cobra[space]bill...you've gone off topic. This is about California's budget, and proposals to deal with the huge pension contribution outlays going forward by limiting the cost for future employees. No present employees would be affected by the proposal.

You obviously can't read worth a sh!t since I've repeated that several times, so it appears you must be one of the over-qualified government employees.

Either stay on topic (and note that your question was answered for which you have not/can not respond in any articulate fashion)...

I know what the topic is, and actually I am on topic, I think it would be wrong to take away the benefits even for the new employees, I think as in with federal service, the problem with retirement benefits, is that the politicians only have to serve one term to qualify for a lifelong pension, a civil servant contributes to the retirement during his or her entire career with the exception of employers contribution to 401k.
I still would have to get back to the point that if you are looking for the best and the brightest you need incentive, you guys should though go after the retirement of the elected officials, a one or two term retirement is just wrong, not much can be done about federal, but you do have the ability to have a referendum on the ballet in California

Nope...sorry, off topic and you failed to head my moderation as well common sense (you can't take something away from someone who isn't even an employee yet).

The government is obviously not looking for or getting the best and the brightest in its civil ranks...as you clearly demonstrate.

We are not talking about elected officials who are under term limits here in California. We are not even talking about staff who work with elected officials and have no long-term position guarantees. We are talking about entrenched civil employees who are damn near impossible to fire due to union control of the government and public employee laws which cater to the dumbest.

Because you immediately decided to argue with my instructions to stay on topic, take some time off and ponder your failings...there are many.

Correct. The idea was equal OPPORTUNITY, not financial EQUALITY. The MTV-watching, crack-smoking, iPod buying crowd are too damn lazy to work, so they want it for free. And CalPERS isn't the only one overfunded, there are a few others. This is a good move in my opinion, that is if Cali intends to solve its many financial problems.
