That's some scarry stuff. I am sure the usual liberals will come on shortly and say Bush was doing the same stuff...

Guys, this is urban mythical hype BS. Any time you log onto a Federal computer with a personal PC, that disclaimer applies. My company has been selling enterprise software in the Fed space for 15 years and this is nothing new. This is nothing more than Glen Beck trying to make a beer can in the ditch reflecting the moonlight look like a UFO. Not to mention...that disclaimer was on the dealer access portion of the site and had nothing to do with consumers.

And yes, the same disclaimers were around under Bush and Clinton and Bush.

You're no fun. We could have had another paranoid conspiracy thread going that could have been closed within 12 postings.

There is so much mis-information and twisted around stories going around right now that it is hard to really have any idea of who if any of these politicians are telling the truth. And the media for sure isn't helping anything with them adding their own spins on every story. We can't even believe what our local politicians say any more around here.

Town Hall Meeting Redding style by Wally Herger our Senator. Call my office and one of my assistants will listen to your questions.

Ron

Perhaps so Excalibur.

The moderators seem to have correctly read the intention of my sarcasm.

Ron,

Citizens are no better than our representatives. The shouting outbursts at town halls and the combative nature of media and citizens on both sides, is doing our country no good.

Paul,

For the most part I agree with your statement above but just what good is the so called leadership of this country doing? They have decided now it seems that they no longer need to pay any attention to what the people want, the people should fall in line with their ideas like sheep. Town Hall meetings were supposed to be for them to listen, present their views and then talk to the people. They are now basically closed meetings that only the few selected by whomever is having the meeting are allowed to speak and they are told what to ask or say.

Your statement: The shouting outbursts at town halls and the combative nature of media and citizens on both sides, is doing our country no good.

You should have added the combative attitude of the Senators and other ELECTED representatives into that.

Ron

Yes, indeed. The automatic dismissal of the other sides proposals, the insistence of making the other side look bad, the rhetoric, the hyperbole, is quite barbaric.

I am not going to get drawn into any of this as it is going nowhere but to the locked thread haven. I don't know why you chose to drag me into it as I never in any post advocated the yelling at town meetings. I just posted how our Congressman was running his by having people call his flunkies, oops, aides, and tell them their questions.

Say what you want, at the moment it is still a free country and people have the right to speak out. I won't post any more in this thread so as not to cause more problems.

From a distance, its easy to see how the radical outbursts at these townhall meetings look unproductive. That's easy for me to say, I sit at the table daily with CEOs and CFOs making million dollar deals. But Frank and Caroline, Bill and Sue, and Joe the Plumber are scared. And pissed. These people don't all have an arsenal of communicating and negotiating skills. They just get out of bed and go build/fix/repair/invent/paint/ etc. But what they see is their Congress blatantly ignoring and dismissing them as either not being the majority or "not having standing." So when given the chance, they shout it out. What I find is that Congress and the media think its only the Republicans that are pissed. They got another thing coming.....

Seems to me, from what I've seen in the various news reports, the politicians are doing a decent job of LISTENING to the "mob" when they can, clearing the meeting hall or not holding another meeting when they can't.

We certainly need to find a balance on the issue. When people are getting arrested at these meetings, when assaults are occuring, meetings SHOULD be terminated or changed until proper guidelines are established.

Ron61, I don't agree that only select people are allowed to attend and then provided with questions/answers, I think for the most part that is bunk. Some politico's are now asking for ID, if you don't live in the district where the meeting is being held, your not allowed to attend. I think that's reasonable.

Excaliber ... Not trying to start an argument , but I find it interesting that the same politicians that are asking for ID from the town hall participants are the same ones who voted down the requirement that a valid ID be presented before someone was allowed to vote ??? Now there is a radical idea .... making sure some lives in the district and is entitled to be in the meeting .... or is a citizen and entitled to vote .

I think you misread me Ron. I was agreeing with you. But if it was a misread, I can't blame you. Most of my lounge posts are filled with sarcasm.

Bob, sometimes events reach a crescendo that requires an extra dose of "security" or some other reasonable response to avoid making a bad situation worse. Such is the case with the town hall meetings.

The idea of people showing ID came up after it was confirmed a certain group of people attended four such meetings with the specific goal of disruption (shout out's, etc.). It was determined that this group would NOT be allowed to attend a fifth meeting, unless they were actually from that district. A reasonable response to an organization whose purpose was clear, disrupt the meetings.

I cannot attend neighborhood meetings for an HOA, for instance, unless I'm member of that group. Nor do I want non-owners attending MY HOA meetings either. ID may be required if there is a doubt, a reasonable precaution.

Its also a reasonable precaution to use at the voting booth.

Excaliber , looks like RAZOR ccoverd it very well on voter ID . My point was hypocrisy on the part of the Democrat pols who opposed voter ID , but now want to institute it when it benefits them . Your point about not being able to attend an HOA meeting if you aren`t a valid member is valid ... but why should people be allowed to vote unless they can prove they are citizens ... and sorry for taking the thread off direction .
