Tough Town Hall with Barney Frank

Barney got an earfull at a recent town hall meeting but held his ground.

A lady in attendance had this to say;

When she compared the administration's policies to Germany under Hitler, Frank responded by asking her, "On what planet do you spend most of your time?"

 My sentiments exactly!

Jamo 08-18-2009 08:27 PM

Gotta tell ya, Ernie...from everything I've read (and I think I gave it a fair read), much of our recent economic nightmare lies at his feet.

Maybe he should've been more concerned about what the lady was telling him instead of conjuring up a smartass reply.

Just my opinion... :)

Excaliber 08-18-2009 08:39 PM

While that may be true Jamo, to many such comments at town hall meetings are doing little or nothing to promote honest dialog on the subjects at hand.

...I did have to chuckle at his comment.

There you go.:)

He may be a total an complete waste of humanity, but in THIS case he nailed it! It is impossible to carry on a reasonable debate when people like this woman bring up the Nazi comparisons. Or insist on a spell check and end up missing the point entirely, try to stay focused. I'm surprised he acknowledged her at all.

Actually, too is acceptable use. But I prefer also. So their.. er they're.. um there!

Bloody 'ell. I'm glad english is my native language. What a messed up language.

Buzz 08-19-2009 01:33 AM

Now that we seem to be fixated on our grammars (Oedipus complex gone bad?)

Quit using "YOUR" instead of "YOU'RE". The apostrophe-re part is short for "are" as in "YOU ARE"! Jeezus!!:CRY::CRY:

And THERE IS NO @#$#@* APOSTROPHE REQUIRED IN THE PLURALIZED WORD "COBRAS", DAMMIT!!!:mad::mad: You only need the bloody apostrophe if you are using the shortened form of "cobra is" in a sentence or referring to something that belongs to a cobra, ie: a Cobra's door or a Cobra's headlight, etc.

I declare a 4 day ban for anyone more than 100 degrees LEFT OR RIGHT of center who violates these simple but important rules. People who are within 99 degrees of center, by way of their reasonable, flexible and open-minded nature are inherently nice folks and get a pass on trivial things like spelling and punctuation and cussin' other folks, etc.

Good...we'll call it the BuzzBan.

Thanks buddy! :)

These townhall meetings are just BS anyway...there is never any "real dialog" or commen sense and fairness in exchanges between folks. It's just a sales meeting from one point of view and if you don't agree with the dems. your an evil protestor and crazy.
On the other hand, these evil doers at the meetings are making a big difference, even poor little evil Sarah Palin got the job done on her twitter page by remote control.

I thinks it's just great that we are able to get both sides and opinions out there..even though everyone gets called some pretty bad names. Perhaps that little rat Barnie will hopefully choke on his next meal.

If the lady compared this administration's policies to those of Germany in the mid 30's, that is one thing. It is not conducive to dialog. If she called Frank a Nazi, that was wrong.
Even just calling them bullies is wrong. ACCURATE, BUT WRONG.

HOWEVER,

Frank is our employee. He is in his multi-hundred thousand a year job with UNBELIEVABLE benefits to represent the people. Not to show how clever he is at smartass answers to poorly presented concerns. The lady was probably wrong to say what she said, without an exact quote we cannot be certain, but she was most likely wrong. Frank was completely wrong and rude. NEVER is it OK to insult the electorate. He is well paid to take such MINOR abuse.

The lady was upset, nervous, and unused to the limelight, and is not excused, but can be understood. Frank was intentionally rude and abusive. No possible way was he justified.

joyridin' 08-19-2009 09:10 AM

Oh well..it beats the ones Bush had. If you weren't a supported of his, you didn't even get in.

As far as to what is said in these meetings..who cares? Insults or not, let heads roll. It is about time people get to say what they want..good or bad...about our "representatives" to their faces. If they can't handle it, or the their constituents can't handle it, leave.

No matter how hot the topic, Barney never seems to be worried about jumping in and getting his hands dirty.

Kudos to you brave enough to watch this Townhall. The sight of Barney Frank makes me sick and the sound of his voice grates on my nerves. The fact that a scumbag like him can be elected as a member of Congress is Exhibit A as to why this country is so screwed.

Ron61 08-19-2009 11:21 AM

Some of the so called meetings have been overboard, but these people will kill to get elected then cry when anyone disagrees with them. They are supposed to represent the people, not tell the people what they are going to do. Maybe if they would do their jobs, they wouldn't get yelled at.

Our Senator had a meeting here yesterday and so many people came that they had to move it to a gym with no air conditioning, but it was not a yelling mob. He lies just like the rest, but at least he did listen and did answer questions that were asked, regardless of whether they agreed with his stance or not. But he will just go back and vote whichever way benefits him the most.

Ron
