Environmentalists Seek to Wipe Out Plush Toilet Paper
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...092304711.html
I wonder if there will be a run on toilet paper like there is on bullets...maybe we should start stocking up now.
or I wonder if we will be reminiscing to our grand children "Back in the good ole days, I remember when toilet paper was..."
A thought question, where are we going to get paper to recycle if all newspapers go electronic?

Only one square per visit!
If we all follow Sheryl Crow's advice, maybe we won't need to ban plush paper...

I remember my first business trip to Germany. The TP in public facilities was akin to brown paper GROCERY BAGS. Thereafter there was a new item added to my packing list!

Try 6 months in China - they don't use it! The hotels have it, but public facilities (also known as holes that you squat over) do not. India is similar.

Really? I've never been to China or India, but that sounds horrific. Should I stop shaking hands with those folks or what?

Actually they do have TP. I used one of those public squat holes facilities over there. Being an embarrassed at body functions American as we all are, I naturally went to the furthest squat hole. It was very uncomfortable, but it was a problem needing resolved NOW!!!! Finishing my business with pants at ankles, I THEN discovered, NO TP. But wrong, there is TP. Hanging on a nail AT THE ENTRANCE. Approximately 24 miles from where I was squatting. And I had not "duck walked" since football practice many years prior!

When I first visited Japan I recall being completely baffled by those squat holes.

Seems like most every public squat hole I used in S.E. Asia come with a women cleaning a sink while looking over her shoulder at me.

The best toilet paper in the world comes from wood pulp grown in Oregon, I sent 75 tons to a mill today.
Anybody up for a IPO? BTW a good roll of TP can cost around a buck, the 75 tons made me $626.25. How is capitalism working for you?

Yup...and on Monday when we all had to take the big ass orange Malaria pill prior to going through the chow line it was even worse. Three hours later (max) there was a line of guys bent over, trying to keep their guts inside the abdomen, heading for the ****ter. We didn't have sinks at our MASH hospital ****ters (7th Surg and 45th Surg), but there was always a Mama San "cleaning" the facility and probably laughing her ass off at the GI's! By the Bye, the big orange pill didn't work!
On the other hand, we kept our colons "blown out" and healthy. You pay big bucks for this stuff today before you go for your colonoscopy!

Nothing to do with trees and TP, but talking about the little old lady in the crapper when you need to do your thing kinda reminded me of a cold winter evening in Northern Alberta.
I was driving to dinner with a lovely girl I had just started seeing when I began to feel a massive buildup of compression in my lower abdomen. It was building fast and in a small Firebird cockpit with windows up, there would have been no humane way to find relief. Thankfully, I had to stop at a nearby instant teller to get some collateral for the evening and I squirmed, clenched and twisted all the way until I pulled up right in front of the bank.
As I approached the door, I was happy to see the lone occupant, a small older woman on her way out at the same time. I hurried in and let the door close behind me. As I stuffed the card into the slot and punched the quick withdraw buttons, I cut loose with a long staccato blast on full auto that fogged the windows and rattled the glass. Normally, a human being can tolerate the smell of his own emissions, but this one polluted the atmosphere and was damn near unbearable. Just as I exhaled a loud sigh of relief and resolved to hold my breath, I heard a sound like a small squeak and turned around to see the little old lady standing behind me with the most g-dawful expression on her face!! Apparently, she had decided she needed another transaction and had followed me back in the door!
The machine mercifully spat out my card and cash and I hurried out of the booth muttering an apology . Unbelievably, the lady didn't evacuate, but just stood there looking at me with this horrible expression. I hesitated briefly to air out my clothes before getting back in the car. The rest of the evening went well and that girl I was dating is now my lovely wife, but I still bust a gut every time I remember the look on that poor old woman's face.

Boy what Dan40 said about German toilet paper . I`ve worked for two German companies and wondered why I got several e mails asking me to bring my host a "gift" of American toilet paper when I went over the first time . After my first use of the facilities , I learned why ... almost like brown paper bag material as he said . It also took some time to get used to the waterless toilets where everything was left for " inspection " on a ledge before flushing .
Now I know why Germany almost conquered the word .... if I had to use that paper , I would be permanently pi$$ed of also .
