How's the Skiing at Snowmass/Aspen?

Hey Kids:
Back here in New England we are now heading into our 3rd month of really cold weather. In an effort to do some skiing where the snow is soft and the temps are above zero I have considered doing a week in the Snowmass area.

So my question is - How is the snow in Aspen/Snowmass? Have any of you guys been there lately?

I'm dreaming of an early morning run in fresh powder down Sneaky's and into Max Park and back to the lift. I figure I can do it 5 or 6 times before the crowds arrive!

Hey Bob,

Leaving on the 28th of Feb for Aspen. Know the area and all the mtns very well. The skiing is second to none in my book. Snowmass is my favorite and big enough that the crouds are not that bad during the week. Can't wait to be on the Cirque! 12500ft.... wow! Are you thinking of going and when?

Lots of snow here at all of the ski areas. I don't ski so can't say personally but with all the snow we've had on the western side of the divide it's got to be good.

As always, mid week is your best bet to avoid the crowds and traffic.

I was hoping to leave the last Thursday or Friday in February. I'm still working on a couple of friend(s) to join me or else the lodging will be too much to handle on my own. I started skiing Snowmass in 1972 and went nonstop for over 30 years. Now that the kid is grown and the wife no longer skis it's been tough getting out there. The last time I was at Snowmass the new restaurant was yet to be built on Mt. Baldy (Sam's Knob). I hope they didn't make a mess, I loved that old restaurant at the top of 3.
