Default Cruise Colorado Update

For you that have not made your room reservations for the July 21 - 25 Cruise Colorado, you best do it soon. I think you can still get a room and the rate, but today I released the rooms that we have not booked so I cannot guarantee you a room or the rate. If I did not release the rooms today, I would have had to pay for them. I really like you, but not enough to pay for your room. For the hotel phone numbers and all other info on this cruise, check out www.milehicobraclub.com

Out of town people will want to bring some extra jets for your car. Or tune it for a mile high drive. You will be going over Independence Pass which is over 12,000 feet. That big block will not run very good if it thinks it is a sea level and can not get any air. We do have a SAG wagon (Supplied by Melson Motorsports) to help with broken cars, but be a good boy scout and be prepared.

We are also having a somewhat wet summer so be prepared for rain. If you or your spouse or your car will melt if you get wet, be prepared. Check out the golf shops or the Harley shops for some of their rain gear. Works good for Colorado quick coming and going rain. We have a saying in Colorado "If you do not like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change." Also remember that you will be a mile hi closer to the sun. For this reason you will burn if the sun is out (which is most of the time). Bring sunscreen and use it.

In the next couple of weeks we will let you know starting times and places for the drive on Weds. July 21. If you are staying in a Denver hotel on Tuesday, July 20, let me know so we can pick you up and also make sure your tow vehicle is stored during the drive. We will have maps and gift bags available for all of the cruisers.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Dave,

The plan is starting to come together for this to a great trip. Had a committee meeting last night. We packed the gift bags and got a peek at what Al Bockman has made up for maps and daily activities and you will love it.

We have had a wet June. Hopefully we keep getting some rain and it quits just before our drive. Will make everything green and keep the fires out of Colorado.

See you in 17 days. Your Texas Friends will be jealous when you get back. They will come next year.

Dick

You guys are killing me .. I still don't have the car running (awaiting the transmission and fuel injection CPU) and it does not look as if I am going to make it now. Hopefully I will have it in time for an early fall trip through the mountains.

If any of you are in the mood for a brisk drive during the Aspen changing Season, I will let you know when I get there.

Default Colorado Trip

James,

Let me know when you get the car running and are ready for a Colorado Drive.

Every year we do a color drive and usually plan it for the same weekend as the Colorado Grand. Saturday, September 18, 2004 is the date this year. Check out thier web site at www.coloradogrand.org
This is really great and an excellent chance to see some really outstanding race cars.

If you wanted to be a sponsor and are not on the list, or if you are on the list and do not want to sponsor us, let me know.

The plan for day one (July 21 - Wed) is as follows:

7:30 Al Bockman will meet any one who has their trailer at his lot or is staying at the Denver Hotel (Comfort Inn 303-367-5000). If you are in this group, email Al at ad303@yahoo.com so you can work on details. Who, what, when and where. OK?

8:30 AM. Meet at LaMars Donuts. 11804 Oswego St. (Lincoln Ave., just east of I-25) Meridian Village Shopping Center (Same one we were at for the LaMars Donut Run). We will be leaving LaMars in groups of 10 cars. With the last group to leave about 9:00. We will pass out your maps and info packets at LaMars. (If you are not going to be at LaMars - let me (thompson660@cs.com) know and I will bring your maps with me)

10:00 AM. Aspen Park - Park n Ride (By the Big Hot Dog) Pick up anyone from west side of town who wants to meet us there. Also a potty stop at near by gas stations.

10:45 AM Fairplay Gas stop at the gas station where Dick always breaks down. The one at the corner of Hiway 285 and HiWay 9. You will spot us because of all the tow trucks.

12:00 Noon Lunch in Salida. On your own, so you pick.

2:00 PM Should be at Hotel - Grand Lodge - 970-349-8000

2:05 PM Rain Starts

We are planning on starting each day at about 8:30 with Groups of ten and have the last group out by about 9:00 AM.

Weather report looks like our best chance of rain is Weds. in Crested Butte. Also Weds. is the coolest temps with a high in Crested Butte of only 70. The rest of the week only a 10% chance of rain with highs in the mid 80's (love it when a plan comes together). Then Sunday when we get back to Denver it is supposed to be in the high 80's or low 90's (Hot)

Let me know if you got any ideas or questions.

Dick

Default OOPS -Cruise Colorado Update

OOPS.

Something else has come up. I thought the plan would work with you telling the hotel what you wanted to eat Sat night when you made your reservations. Only problem is that no one at the hotel told the reservation people. So, now we need to know by Monday 7/19 what you want to eat Saturday in Glenwood Springs. You get your choice of London Broil, Chicken Cordon Bleu or Shrimp Scampi. They had to limit the choices but the price is still only $21.95 each which includes tax and tip. This will be added to the room charge when you check in. If you are not staying at the Ramada Inn, you will need to pay at the restaurant on Saturday.

Please let me know by Monday. Either return email (thompson660@cs.com) or call me at 303-699-4819.

IF you do not let me know, I will have to order London Broil for you.

Dick
