Question Skiing Question for Colorado Guys

Hello All:
For the past 30 some years I have been hitting the slopes of Colorado (Snowmass, Copper, Vail, etc.) every February or March. This year snow in the northeast is nowhere to be seen. My question to you Colorado guys is - how are the conditions out there? I need to book soon. I thinking middle of March. Has anyone been skiing in Snowmass? How is the snow? What have they done recently to ruin what was once one of the best ski areas in the world?

Bob

Bob,

My brother just got back from Breckenridge and he said the snow was better than it has been in quite awhile. I too plan on going to Vail in March (if my wifes foot surgery will allow it).

Bob if you want to try something different and still fairly untouched try Wolf Creek or Durango (Purgertory), or Telluride. However, if you are wanting a bustling night life stick with the Denver mountains to the West.

Default snow conditions

Bob:
I've lived in the Colo rockies since 1974. I am retired and now volunteer for vail & beaver creek giving the guests "on snow tours" (keep me busy). We are experiencing a slightly above average year as far as snowfall. I think that in the central mountains we've had about 145 inches total. A little above average, but not quite like last season which was pretty much a record breaker. PM me if you want more detailed info.

I'm an ex-Colorado native. Lived there, skied there until '95. By far my favorite ski area is Steamboat Springs followed by Purgatory. Aspen/Vail for me was/is too "stuck up" they have "the name and celebrity fame".

Just my $.01 worth
