Default Exoto announces 1:14 scale 427 Cobra diecast

Yesterday I received an email from Exoto announcing that they soon plan to offer a large 1:14-scale diecast model of the 1965 Shelby 427S/C Cobra.

If you know Exoto, then you know that their diecast models are among the best in terms of accuracy and detail. And they're very expensive.

But if you know Exoto, then you also know that their "pre-orders" and "coming soons" can sometimes stay in limbo FOREVER, and their pricing can vary endlessly. So, be forewarned and forearmed.

Anyways, here are the details of the new model.

Exoto no. RLG14010
1:14 scale diecast model
1965 Shelby 427 Cobra in Guardsman Blue
limited edition (427 pieces)

Pre-order price of $1,795 USD (!!!)

I have a friend who paid only a little more than that for his first real Cobra, an early 260 that he bought in 1970.

I think I'll apply my $1,795 to some 1:1 scale Trigo wheels and adapters for my 1:1 cobra scale build...

Too bad so expensive, they might sell out the limited run of 427 units, but I won't be one of them. Still good info SunDude, those cobra enthusiasts with literally money to burn may go for it.

The profile doesn't look right to me. The back end looks a little like an early FFR.

How come model makers can make the Goodyear Billboard lettering so nice and precise, yet GY can't do the full-scale ones worth beans?

I'm sure if the price is right they would do a one-off for you, make 'em an offer. But why should the pursist stop there, I would demand a 427 cubic mm V8 that ran on pump gas and working gauges.

Just hit it with scuff pads and you have a pot-metal Kirkham...

Brian,

I would imagine that Exoto might team up with Kyosho.

I remember buying the first 6 Daytona Cobras that they made, cost me £65.00 each !

Re. the perky butt; maybe they used the "Turd" to model their "427 Cobra." Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only big block Cobra in this photo (from their web site) is the Turd is it not?

Way overpriced. Makes the Exoto Cobras look like a real bargain. AMT/MPC 1/16 scale kits are still available for under 50 bucks and are great. Build it yourself with the correct shape.
