Default NEW:Cobra Kick Off Rally Run:4/10/2010

Hi Guys,

Hope the weather will hold up. I will be too busy to reschedule the event as the rest of my April is jammed. If, however, this ride is a success, I'd like to plan another ride later in the season as well.

Cool

Just checked The weather. So far looks favorable.
Mostly sunny High of 55 degrees at this time.
Will keep an eye on it and give updates.
I like it a bit cooler; not as many bugs, you may want to bring a neck warmer and some driving gloves. I find if your neck area and hands are warm, you'll be set.

Hope to see you on the rd on Saturday

Gary:
The rest area on the Wilbur Cross in Orange is between Exit 55 & 56, not at Exit 58 - or am I confused?

0950 1000 Hrs: Rally Point (3) Three: (Gas Location)
For those coming from:
Waterbury, Trumbull, Torrington, Milford, WestHaven
Valley, Orange Areas
Route 15 North / Exit 58 Orange, CT Rest Stop

What is the anticipated turnout?

Bob

Default Rally Point 1

Is anyone going to start at this point? It is right down the road from me. I think it is actually closer to exit 37 (just past it) which is New Canaan.

Hi Guys,

Some clarifications:

lLoyds1: you may be right. the rest stop is in between 36 and 37 on the
New Canaan/ Darien Line. Depending on when baby sittiers arrive and If I can get there in time, I may start at this beginning point and work my way north as well. If not I'll start at exit 46 or after 58 in orange. Hope to see ya

Bob in CT: Rally point 3 is the rest stop just north of the I95 cut over to RT15 ,so it could be closer to 56, but still South of exit 56.
Hope this helps.

So far weather looks cooperative.

Default The Dry Rally Run Today 4/07/10

Hi Guys,

I made a dry run of the rally route to Gillette Castle and to Mohegan Sun Today. What a beautiful Ride. :

What was noted: To get to RT 66, RT15 merges onto I 91, and follow the signs to RT66 East. Once on RT 66 at the beginning there is many places to gas up or get some refreshments. You'll then see signs straight ahead for RT 9 South.

Once on RT 9, Exit 7 Gillette Castle State Park signs are widely visible. Follow the signs on RT 82 and they will take you right to the park.

Once in the Park, We all can assemble at the rear parking area. Restrooms were open today, however, I'm not sure about Saturday. Bring your cameras, this place is very nice.

The ride to Mohegan was even nicer. The back roads of farm lands and nice roads was a pleasure. There are also places to gas up on the way as well. Prior to I395 there is a Walmart and a BigY parking lot if needed.

Once at Mohegan, we can all park in the garages bare right for the rear garage (summer). When leaving this garage I 395 is easy to get to shortly down the road to the right.

Hope you will join us. Bring Your camera, spring clothing (especially for the morning run) and maybe a little cash for some eats, treats, and slots.
