Default ERA on the road

Hey all...

Have not been on line for a while, busy and a few weeks under the weather.

Finished up what I could on the Cobra and registered it last week. Thought I would share a couple of pics.

Special thanks to Nick at Acton Custom for all of the cool parts and advice. Saving all those goodies for continued efforts at the end of the season!

Dave, it looks great....and kinda familiar :-)

We'll have to park side by side at the Windmill one of these days.

I'm not thrilled with my Billboards...love the look, but the roads I like up here aren't very smooth and the bias tires can turn a nice ride into a wrestling match. Do you like the Hoosiers?

Bill

Good looking car. Glad to hear another ERA is on the road. Since it looks like your garage is going to be pretty full I'll take that other car off your hands for you just so you have room. I'd even pay the shipping to get it across country. No need to thank me, I'm just that kind of nice guy.

Awsome Dave! You have carried your AC out to the max ! Sure looks different than the last time I saw it. Once I have mine converted back to street/stelth mode. Even though we have three red AC's in the group. They will still all be different. Bill's new High Tech red 427 S/C: Your's as a full (#'s etc.) dress red ERA 427S/C & mine converted from a ERA 427S/C to a ERA 427 street. That should make a wicked display cruzin down the road this season. Only mine won't be finished with the change until next season. Still, with the group all together; say up to a dozen AC's & 40's. It should make for an awsome show romping through the hills & highways of Northern New England! Again M8, AWSOME JOB!

Bill I can't speak for Dave, but I just dumped my Hoosiers. They simply wouldn't balance out. They looked great and gave great traction. But they were a pain. I even had them taken off the rims & shaved, but to no avail. For me at least; they wern't worth the discomfort. I ended up going with the Micky Thompson S/T street radials. Man what a difference. 10+ steps above BFG's. While the S/T's are only rated to 110+mph for 1 hour. For spirited street driving & mabe a quick romp up to 140/50 they have preformed just awsome. Ok I only have 600+ miles on them, but so far I went with Fronts @ 235/60-15. I could have gone 245/60 or 255/60's in the front & still may next year for a fatter look. In the rear I went 295/50-15's

PS I have a set of very low milage MT S/R radials if you want to try them. Before you go spending extra cash you may be sorry about later. Give me a call if your interested.

Sage

Sage, Thanks for the info...I have Cooper Cobra GTs on my SPF and like them a lot...they handle well, don't hunt, and don't get scary in the rain. Great value for the money, too. I think they are similar to the MTs.

I would gladly put them on my Hi-Tech, but will miss the racing look of the Billboards. I guess we're all looking for the Holy Grail that gives us the Billboard look and the radial feel.

Sigh........Bill

Thanks guys for all the comments!

Bill... yes virtually the same as a certain, awesome Hi - tech we all know and love. The car just happened to be red and you guys know I much prefer the wheels in black. Figured the meatballs might set them apart a bit. Anxious too to get them side by side! I am just anxious to finally get to see your awesome car!

Now... Hoosiers... they are as square as the Bill Boards. Took it to get inspected this morning and nearly rattled my teeth out. But it was in the 40's and just too damned cold. I am big time spoiled with the Avons and will likely go with those in pretty short order. There is just no comparison. They are, despite the cost, the tire of choice for these cars. I do have to say that these Hoosiers do not hunt like the Bill Boards. And they ride wonderfully when warm. You just have to get them warm! Again, safety wise, and driveability wise, the Avons are my choice!

Bill, remember that I have stencils for the Avons. Same as I have on the 40. I think that helps with a bit racer and vintage look. There are some pics on here somewhere of my Contemporary with lettered Avons. Take a look or I will see if I can find a pic for you. They really are worth every red cent!

Nice looking car - congratulations. Makes me kind of wish I had stuck with my first choice to go red. Also really like the blacked out wheels.

Looks outstanding! I just put ERA744 on the road here in MA and I'm new to the forum and the Cobra world (have/had lots of other fun cars though). BTW, how did you get those great photos to post?

Jeff... wish I had time this weekend, but only a couple of hours free tomorrow and will likely run over to NHMS for the Smokn Stangs Cruise in for bit. Anxious to see the progress on the buggy! Even more anxious to hear it run! Think it will get ignition this weekend?

Hi Dave,

You did an awesome job on the car - love the look and can't wait to see it in person. Looking forward to having all 3 of the red beasts side-by-side...
