Default CT. Inspections Part 2

I got my degree, the ceremony took almost six hours, here's how it went--- Arrive at DMV @ 7:45am in the inspection lane for an 8:00am appointment, second one in line. 8:00am doors open. 8:05 inspector comes out, asks if I paid the $88.00, I said no, were do I pay, he says room 164 in the big building, but you can't park here, park in the rear left parking lot. After you pay drive the car here. 8:20 long walk to room 164, 15 people in line the wait begins. They ask, next person for a registration, WOW that's me. Fill out a form, pay $88.00 out of there in 15 minutes, I say not bad. Jog to parking lot start the Cobra, back it off the trailer and drive it over in second gear to the stop sign in the inspection lane and wait my turn. 8:55 inspector signals to drive forward just short of going inside. He asks, I want to see your papers for your engine and transmission. I forward them. He says there are no numbers saying were did they come from. I told him it is brand new transmission. I took it out of the cardboard box myself along with all the other parts on the receipt from Forte's Parts Connection, Inc. I bought the motor from CE Racing, call them the is on the receipt. 9:20 inspector said he called CE Racing and asked them were did they get the motor. They said we get our motors from someplace in NJ. Inspector says I don't what to do but lets start the inspection. 9:30 first drive in this bay and turn your wheels, checking wheel alignment. PASS. Drive in the next bay, he ask me to jack up the front. Checks the wheels for play, ball joints, steering play, PASS {they are new}. Checks all the lights, wipers, horn, get out of car and latch your seat belts, PASS. Drive car onto lift, Inspector starts looking with his big flash light, says upper right rear shock looks turned. I say it is supposed to be that way, it is an eye mount and show him how it self centers, PASS. Brake test, drive it off the lift onto the four steel plates and hit the brakes. First time I did it wrong second time I PASSED. Drive it outside the building, he asks the mileage, now drive it out in the parking lot and back, Speedo works, PASS. He says we still have the problem with the engine and trasmission no numbers. I ask what do I do next? They say you need to go to the Title Dept. room 305 in the big building, but you can't park here. I put the car back on the trailer, jog to room 305, use phone at counter and call, tell the person my problem, they say can't help on phone have a seat someone will come out and help you. 10:15 someone comes out, they tell me they don't do this and tell me to go back to the inspection lane we will call them. Jog back to the parking lot unload car, drive back to inspection lane. Tell them what happened. Female supervisor says sounds like the run around, we will wait for there call and wait I did. 11:00 I go and ask them did you get a call? No but we called them twice and no return call. 11:10 They say I am all set just pay $50.00 for a Vin. number, were do I pay? Room 164 [been there] but you can park between our cars. Thanks. Jog to room 164 the line is outside the room 35 deep. Almost there can't stop now. 11:40 pay the $50.00 jog back to inspection lane. The doors are closed, start the car and drive it in front of the doors and Revvvved the motor, tried to wake the dead, none came out, walked inside, inspector was with someone. 11:45 I have a vin number, were do I get plates? 2nd floor in the big building. Drive car back onto trailer, jog to 2nd floor. Lot of people in this room. Ask at info. desk. Told to get number, now there are 8 people in line for a number, I get number 806. 12:00 noon I go back to info desk and ask how long a wait? He says they are at number 714 a 2 hour wait. I have a little lunch on the first floor, go back to the 2nd floor and have a seat in Purgatory, that part of the room the lights were not on [I think it was so the one at the info desk could nap] and wait @1:45pm I have real plates. They called it a 2005 vehicle so no emission test for now. I tell you I said a lot of Hail Marys and am very Thankful, it can be done, and thy will be done. I am looking forward to some nice summer drives AMEN. Tom P.

Congrats.

Now perhaps customers can better understand why it is necessary for us to charge a fee to provide this service. You lucked out in several areas where they let you pass instead of outright failing you.

If anyone who designed this program actually went through the paces of the process perhaps they would fix it ... but until that new bill passes, we are stuck with this.
