Default DV Spring Fling III----Bigger----Louder----Even Better!!

Posted by DV:
I hope you guys think this as great and special as I do. We started working on this way back in July. The obstacles where huge, the logistics were impossible and trying to convince "THE" people it would work was like fighting the "Dark Side!"

Well, tonight it all came to a head. After talking to dozens of people, unofficially read, feeling them out, finally going to the "Board", then going to "THE ASSOCIATION". The Association Voted tonight and was 100% in favor of the First and only:

Cobra Road Rally on City (Semi-Private) streets! Yes! Lake Choctaw residents voted on the DVSF Cobras running AT SPEED on a closed 1.1 mile course around the lake!

The gist is, the lake will be shut down for the Fling, a course will be set up, bleachers will be installed, vendors will set up for business, and the "Paying public" will be bussed in to watch us zip around the course at speeds up to 100 mph!

The next few months will be busy, busy, busy. All the logistics from safety for the public and of course the cars, to picking the right pretzel vendors has to be determined.

To go along with this fantastic news, we were just informed by one of our sponsors that they will be providing us with a profesional advertising company. Fling III and this new event will be advertised all over the country!

DV...We get all the fun, CF and Jenny gets the Funds!

Brent,

What can I say except without you the Fling would probably not exist. It certainly would not be what it is today withhout you.

For your patience, tolerance, the tremendous amount of work you do plus the huge amount of band width we take up -

THANK YOU!

Default Hotel help

That is awesome. One more reason to make every effort to attend. I'm sure hotel info will be very important. I'm looking for some hotel help here. Which of these hotels is closest and/or the nicest?
1. Four Points by Sheraton Columbus Airport Hotel
2. The Westin Columbus
3. Sheraton Suites Columbus

Bonus points are a good thing. Any advice? Want to make my reservation.

Steve

I can tell you from my business travels to Columbus that the airport is a ways away (30 min+ in no traffic) from the Hilliard area. I assume that is the area we will be since that is where the hotels that sold out are. I will let someone more local chime in.

Fellas,
It has happened again! The Fairmont does have rooms. Short version, "WE" only get to "block" so many rooms at a time. This creates a two-sided sword.

1: If you do ask for the DVSF rooms and our "block" has been taken, then they will tell you they are full. But, they should offer you another room if it is available.

2: If you don't ask for the DVSF rooms, since we have them blocked they will assume you are independant and will also tell you the Hotel is full.

These people are driving me NUTS!

Fairfield DID have a few rooms yesterday. I think, under 10.

Hampton is only about a 2/3 full as of today and they are the nicest of the three.

The Days Inn still has multiple rooms.

Airport to the west side IS a minimum of 30 minutes, under great conditions. Hyatt down town 20 minutes, Sheraton down town 20 minutes.

DV...Friday night will be party night! Hell, the whole weekend will be a party

Ed,

As of today 11-5-02 the Fairfield Inn has 15 Rooms left---
I just talked with Sandy and she said the Rate was $65.00

She also stated most of the people staying there are with the Fling.

This where we stayed last year--it was excellent and clean. They also supplied a small breakfast and it has a fantastic outdoor pool---

Ed--

I forgot, the phone # to the Fairfield Inn is 1-614-870-2880

They even gave us older clean towels to wipe the cars down-

I sound like a sales rep for the Fairfield----I'm not--Our group (OCC) was very satisfied with the services.

The Fairfield and the other motels, at that location, are the "central" location.Everything gets going out of there- The happenings are all over Columbus, from the Steak and Lube (N-East) to the street fair in London (S-West) to the lake (West) -of Columbus---

It takes about 30--45 min. to drive to the lake from the motel and about that same amount of time to get to Quaker Steak and Lube from the motel---However, when you are in a 30+ Cobra caravan it seems like just a few minutes.

Socializing at the motels--is also a real big part of the adventure.

I guarantee a good time----

casaleenie.
Once again the Hampton at 614-851-5599 and the new Days INN at 614-878-8844. These are the "combined hotels" that are all together.

IF these do fill up, and it does look like they will, then we have two more Hotels just on the other side of the freeway. Much closer than the next Cross Country Inn.

Ed,
Just do a search on the DVSF. We've posted a complete, and I'll tell you right now it's a changin' fast itinerary.

We'll be posting a new DVSF web site as soon as apossible.
If you can't tell by this thread, then may I suggest you get a hotel room(s) ASAP. It really does look like we will be filling up five complete hotels this year! My,my,my, this is going to be something else!
