Just two weeks from today until the memorial dedication here in Augusta.
As most of you are aware, the race winning Cobra CSX2260 will not be able to make the trip to Augusta because of delays in the restoration. As owners of "project" cars, I think we all understand delays!
We hope to have CSX2260 at the event next year when the memorial is moved to the courtyard of the new community center/library complex next to the former pit lane.
Without CSX2260 there we be no "on track" photo opportunity. However, for those making the dedication there will be a display area just behind the new memorial for Cobras and Vintage race cars. Plenty of room in that area for pictures and conversation.
Immediately following the 30 minute dedication there will be a partial "track walk" and also a full "track walk".
This "walk" will also involve the Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society (AIRPS) carrying the checked flag that was covering the memorial around the 3 mile circuit. In you are interested in doing the full 3 miles, bring some comfortable shoes. We will provide some water.
Come and join us as this is going to be a very special day as we remember the cars and the drivers that raced at this very special track. A lot of the drivers are no longer with us and we will have a few less with each passing year.
I have put up a copy of the program for the dedication on the press release page:
www.augustainternationalraceway.com
It is at the bottom of the page.
This event will happen, rain or shine!
Good Racing,
Henry
