Christmas Toy Run is ON!!

It'S A GO!!

The almost annual Toy Run is officially underway. Time to dust off all of your Santa hats, antlers and Elf gear, if ya got 'em. Thanks to those who have gone before, EVERYONE at Sutter Memorial Hospital and Perko's is looking foreward to seeing us again. Remember, this has traditionally been one of our best attended events, and lets not let the children down. No matter rain or shine, lets all plan on being there!!

WHEN and WHERE:

Dec 15th (third SATURDAY).

-9:00am Breakfast at Perko's Cafe

(formerly Bradshaw's) near Hwy 50 and Bradshaw. Perko's will reserve parking for us like in years past. Address is 9647 Micron Ave, Sacramento, CA 95827

-11:00am Toy Drop-off to benefit Sutter Hospital Pediatric Department. Address is 5151 F st, Sacramento, CA. The plan is for us to park in the front entrance like in the past, with overflow in the front doctor's lot.

**Toys must be new, and not gift wrapped.** Toys can be stuffed animals, play doh, anything from newborn to age 18.
The hospital did express a need for the following:
-Current children's movies on DVD
-Fisher Price Dr. Kits
-Infant mobiles, rattles, & crib toys
-Don't forget stuff for teenage boys & girls (electronic games, music, movies)
-Please NO guns, knives, swords etc (this was a specific request).

REMEMBER, THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT.

-Please post your commitment & how many people attending. This way I can track the numbers for the restaurant.

Thank you in advance for your participation. This really means a lot to the kids and their parents. I know from prior experience that you all are a generous lot. Skip a night out at your favorite burger joint, and head to Toys-R-Us instead...you'll feel great, and probably live a little longer :).

So... time to commit and get the "count me in" list started:

Let me be the first...2 people, 2+ toys.

Igofastr 12-05-2012 07:32 PM

This is a great start for one afternoon. Lets keep it coming.

I'm told that there are usually between 20 and 50 kids in the hospital at any one time.

decooney 12-05-2012 09:21 PM

Ron,
I don't recall who set it up several years ago, but someone provided a list of names and ages of kids to divide up between the NorCal group. It helped to ensure kids at all age ranges got gifts, and to help ensure teens and older kids did not get left out. I believe someone at SH provided a wish list with names/ages, and we all sort of picked from it. As it worked out, as I recall everyone felt great providing some of the longer-term-stay kids what they wanted or needed. I apologize in advance if this takes hold and somehow makes your job complicated here, but just wanted to bring it up just in case it still might be at least a secondary option for consideration. If I can help somehow, let me know, I can run over to the SH-Ped dept location during the day for whatever is needed.

As long as I don't get called into work we will be there.

Tina and i will be there. This a a great cause for the group, the kids really seem to enjoy the cars, so lets hope the weather is favorable. I hope everyone can make it. Merry Christmas, to all of you!

Hoof Hearted (Justin) started this about 5-years ago. His daughter had been in the hospital with, I believe, a heart issue. Justin moved to Colorado due to work. That is when I picked up the ball - now Ron is running with it.

I will be there with a passenger. Thank you for setting this up.

Igofastr 12-07-2012 10:17 AM

Pretty good so far, lets keep it coming!

BTW, Our buddies from outside the imediate area are welcome, of course.

Ron,
Thank you so much for keeping this tradition alive for the children.

Count me in of two and as many gifts that we can fit.

As Phil said, we have Justin to thank. Maybe we could send photos to him and his family.

Remember after putting smiles on all of the children, in the past we have put smiles on our faces by doing a ride for those who are interested.

See you all there

Gary

Lisa and I are looking forward to attending this great event.

Appreciate the effort putting this together.

See you Saturday.
