Default New to Club Cobra

Hi All,

New to the forum and wanting to come to the next 3rd Sat. breakfast meeting. Do you have a place and time decided yet? I have been wanting to build a FFR for many years and my wife just gave me the green light for the project. Now I have the task of saving for the complete kit It will take me a better part of eight months for the kit. When I get the kit it will be another 8 months to save for the motor/trans/paint and wheels, so this will be a 2 year project with about a year build time. I live in Elverta, Sacramento Co. and know a co-worker that build one but sold it. He has been great answering the many questions that go into a project like this. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you all and drooling over your cars .

Thanks,
Craig

welcome to PCW.......i am a former resident of Sacramento (Howe ave./El Camino area) .sounds like your wife is a cool lady, have you been to the Bash by the bay (San Leandro Marina) yet ?it is a good place to meet people and check out many great Cobras. It takes place in September and will really get you excited about building a Cobra.

Thanks rustybob, that sounds fun and a great place to see a bunch of cars. Thanks for the info and I will look for more specifics.

FFR's are a great kit BUT are you sure it's the right kit for you? i dont want to sound like a salesman but there are other kits just as good or better and you can start by just buying a rolling chassic and go up from there. If money is an issue (and it always is)you might check into someone like Shell Valley 1-888-246-2355 and get an info pack from them and check it out.I know treir turn key minus runs in the $26k range but they will work with you on what you want to start with.Talk to Travis and tell him Bob Q sent you.

Thanks rustybob, I will send off for the info pack. I am not really hooked on FFR, they just have a large community base , I'm sure Shell Valley has the same thing.

A rolling classic is a great way to go right now. I've seen very nice cars offered in the low $20,000 range lately (have a contact for one). A few thousand can go a long way in new upgrades if/as needed and you are driving this summer!

Craig,

Regardless of what you decide to build (FFR is a great choice by the way), just make sure that you enjoy yourself.

You might want to check this out - not a bad Sunday drive and about every replica Cobra imaginable to view.

NorCal Cobras / Driving to WCCC II - August 1st?

Thanks Phil. When I looked at the date it is the day after my Daughters wedding. I would go but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be feeling up to it

Welcome PCW:

If you just can not wait to get your hands dirty, come on out for a few hours of helping me build a Classic Roadester I. I sort of just started this week.

I purchased an abandoned project from someone else.

I am straight south of Sac drag strip about 6 miles. Trying to get it done for autorama in february.

Hey Ray, congrats. I have kind of changed my mind with the car. I decided to go with a superformance Turn key - After visiting Kirkham in Provo UT, I was at my daughters College Grad from BYU, I decided that a turn key - would be better for me. Superformance has 2 dealer close , 1 in Redwood city and 1 in Reno, both owned by the same person. Antways, congrats again and let me know how the build goes. I will let you know when I get the roller and post pics.
