Default CH1 / Thursday caravanning from NorCal-Sacto

THURSDAY DEPARTURES ONLY-

I'm posting this for others who are trying to sync up and caravan from NorCal and surrounding Sacramento metropolitan areas down to WSCG / Cobras On Highway1 (CH1) this week. Sacramento Meetup/Departure on Thursday 09/24/09:

10:00 a.m departure from Pavillions/Starbucks off of Fair Oaks Blvd.

A few possible folks who may be meeting there:
  • Maurice/Son in Kirkham
  • Photoguy/Alan & Elaine in Arntz
  • Kevin in Lister COOX

Others possible that I heard about, unconfirmed:
  • Jim/wife in SPF
  • Randy/Susan in SPF

Note: At 6pm on Thursday, a small group of us will be departing the Seascape headed down to Monterey for quick run and back; we'll be parking at 831 cycles across from the Marina for a quick stop-in during the tail end of Cherries Jubilee. We'll stop there, then make a run through Cannery row and back through the tunnel and returning to Seascape - if any of you want to join us again like we did last year.

See the FRIDAY thread instead if you are leaving Friday. There is one thread for Thursday and a seperate thread for Friday to help keep everyone on track for each day.

Reply here to confirm for others if you are planning to meet up at at Pavillions on THURSDAY (not FRIDAY) and departing at 10:00am.

Is anyone from the Bay area headed over on Thursday? I'd like to meet up with others for the drive down if possible.

Default Thursday to CH1 from NorCal

Chris,
I have a bunch of stuff I'm bringing down there, and luggage for others in the Tahoe and trailer in tow (bah hum bug), meeting someone else on 680 to 101 on Thursday morning - if for some reason you want to go slow and follow others.

Also, the Sacto group you can hook up with is taking the route down 37W to 101S to Hwy1 South. I can give you some cell numbers if you want them. Send me an email.

Maybe some others will post here with other options for you too. DC

Thanks Duane. I'd prefer a spirited drive rather than tagging along with the trailer in tow. I might take Hwy 92 over to the coast and meet the Sacto group in Half Moon Bay. I'll wait and see who else weighs in here and then decide.

For those of you coming from Sacto, it looks like you'll be hitting Half Moon Bay at about 12:30 or so. Are you planning on just passing through or do you have plans for a lunch stop somewhere in the area?

Default Lunch

Chris,
I think the Thursday group will be stopping in Half Moon Bay for lunch. Not sure of the time of arrival, but, if all goes right I would say around 12:30 to 1:00. Should be 8 to 10 cars in the group............. Alan

Friday is the lunch meet at Half Moon bay, not Thursday. FYI. DC

I'll send a schedule out to the group from the WSCG site.

As of Tuesday morning at 12:30am...., I've been watching the weather/temps the last day solid regarding NorCal travel and what it will be like weather wise at CH1 for Thursday and Friday incoming travelers.

Departing Travel from Sacto/NorCal:
-8am, perfect!
-9am, should be nice and tolerable.
-10am, getting warmer but not hot yet.
-12pm/Noon - good luck.
Recommendation: Be on Hwy80 driving by no later than 10am sharp

At Aptos:
Low to High 70s days. Cooler nights.

Hwy1 Drives:
Low to mid 70s days. Cooler nights.

At Laguna on Saturday:
Sunny. Highs in Mid 80s, to Low 90s in late afternoon.

It will be nice at the Scape!

Default lunch

I'll be having lunch at Half Moon Bay THURSDAY on the drive to Seascape.

I'm leaving from the Pavillions at 10:00am then west on I 80, then to Hwy 37, south on 101, over the Golden Gate and then take first right off 101 on to Lincoln Blvd., left on 25th st., and right on Geary to the Great Highway. I'll pass the Cliff House and head south down the coast to Skyline Blvd.(Hwy 35) to CH 1. Have lunch in Half Moon Bay and head out to the Seascape. If anyone else would enjoy this route also.................... welcome!!

Should be free of most traffic, and have great sights. Alan

I am familar with that route.... very nice. You could stop off at Sears Point (Infineon) for gas, they have h$gh 100 octane fuel.
Have a great ride... hope to join you all next year.

Hey Alan, exactly the same way we're going on Friday, except stopping for sushi just outside of the city. Uwe's desire....
We'll be heading down the coast, then maybe turn towards Bonny Doon into Felton, then down Hwy 9 into Santa Cruz. A little detour, but nice roads and scenery.
Drive safe and see you guys there.

Danny

Heads up guys/girls !

Please take note. Vacaville/Fairfield area is HEAVILY patrolled by the cops. When the asphalt changes SLOW DOWN. You will see cops there. They gotta pay for the new road somehow.

Cya there!
