Default North Bay Cruise, Cars, and Brunch, July 11

Summer is slipping by fast!
Take some time out and have some fun!
Join us for Brunch, Vintage and Muscle Cars, a Cruise, and Drinks!

Everyone in Norcal is Welcome. Don't be a stranger. Join us for some fun.

Be sure to join us on Sunday, July 11th at 10:00 am
for brunch, cars, and a cruise!
Please RSVP so we can have a seat ready for you at the restaurant.

Brunch

Brunch is at 10:00am at the City Limits Bar and Grill in Petaluma (5151 Montero Way, http://www.the101casino.com/content.aspx?contentid=152). This is a newly remodeled restaurant inside the Casino 101. Yes, if you visited there before the remodel, you know this place as a dump. But it is REALLY nice now. First class. They have a banquet room, nice menu, and good food.

Vintage and Muscle Cars

After brunch, we will walk next door to the Showcase of Motorcars. This is a car consignment shop that has a wide variety of muscle cars, vintage cars, trucks, and other vehicles of interest for us to view.

Cruise

Following the car viewing, we will go on a cruise via Bennett Valley to Glen Ellen and stop at the Bluegrass Bar and Grill for an afternoon bracer. They feature whiskeys (my favorite), but also have a nice selection of cocktails to satisfy any appetite.

Be sure to reply so we know how many are coming. It will be a nice excursion. See you there.

Classic Orders

A Little History
Bourbon Whiskey, recognized as "A Distinctive Product of the United States" by an act of Congress in 1964. The law really doesn't say that it has to be made in Kentucky(although~99% is), however - no whiskey can legally call itself Bourbon unless it is:
Made in the United States
Made from a grain recipe that is at least 51% corn
Distilled at less than 160 proof from a fermented grain mash
Matured in new, charred American White Oak barrels at no more than 125 proof for a minimum of two years (if aged for less than four years, it must say so on the label)
A product to which nothing is added in the final stage except pure water -- no artificial flavors, colors or additives of any kind are allowed
Bottled at 80 proof or higher
A Few Early Facts
Kentucky became a state in 1792 & Bourbon named one if its counties.
Early Whiskey was made primarily from Rye, this changed when Thomas Jefferson offered pioneers land incentives to raise “native corn.”
This clear corn based whiskey was altered when thrifty Reverend Elijah Craig from Bourbon Countybegan to use old barrels to transport to New Orleans. He charred the barrels before filling them, thus after the long trip, it had “mellowed” and taken on a light caramel color from the oak. Being fromBourbon County he started calling the whiskey “Bourbon.”
A refinement credited to either Dr. James C. Crow or Dr. Jason S. Amburgey was the sour mash process. Each new fermentation is conditioned with some amount of previously fermented mash and separated from the alcohol, thus named “spent mash or spent beer.” The acid introduced by using the sour mash, controls bacteria growth that could taint the whiskey & creates a pH balance for the yeast to work its magic.

Paul (and all of our North bay friends),

Dembeste Motorsports has invited BACC, NorCal Shelby and VMOA (Vintage Mustang Owners Association) to their place in Santa Rosa on July 10 for a BBQ. Here's a link to info on the event Denbeste BBQ.

Bill and his staff have a great collection of 80+ cars and put on a great BBQ. We were hosted by Denbeste last year and it was a great day.
I'll be posting more info on this event shortly.

See ya,
Mike

Great Mike. We'll pass the word on via the private mail. Most of our group don't read this forum. I won't be able to go, but I'll see if there are some folks going and maybe we can set some join-up points along the route up from the south (Marin, Petaluma?).

Of course, your all welcome to join us on Sunday as well, for our brunch/cruise.

Cheers,

For those of you that are considering going, but don't see any traffic here and think nobody is showing up, we Northbayers communicate via mail. We have 14 confirmed and several never respond but show up anyway. So there will be plenty of people to meet, chat with, and have a fun brunch and cruise.

See you there. Don't be shy.
