Default Insurance for re-titled Cobras

Don't forget to check your insurance when you re-title as a '60's Cobra. I was with USAA w/full coverage at $600 year. Contacted Grundy and got same coverage with $40 thousand agreed value for $260 a year. They just expanded what they will insure so I took my Harley and boat over to them too. They even insure daily drivers now under their new "MVP" proagram which they didn't do before. I've had my '38 Chevy insured with them for a couple of years and like them.

Before I Choose an insurance company, I review their claims rating. How they treat claims is more important to me than getting the cheapest price.

Grundy's been around for years with the best rep among collector car owners/insurers. Check them out on Hamb and other hot rod sites. Up until the last couple of months they would only insure classic cars but now they do it all. They are one of the few that insure for agreed upon value, everyone else is devaluating your car every year. I personally know of someone who totaled his hotrod and received full agreed value from Grundy with no hassle. USAA is probably the top rated insurer for price, claims and satisfaction and I would not have left them if I had not checked out Grundy, insured with them for a few years and talked to folks. I titled my car as a 1966 Shelby AC Cobra. They'll title it whatever you want/tell them to, on accounta they have no idea what the hell is going on.

Interesting info on the insurance Mastiff. Also interesting to see how owners are getting their cars retitled. From what I've heard 'Make' is limited by what the computer has as options. 'Ford', 'Shelby', or 'Custom' seems to be the 3 we could use. After that it's up to the owner on Series/Body. 'AC Cobra' seems like a good choice there Mastiff. Any other recent retitles?

I am an insurance agent in OH and KY and when it comes to choosing an a company rember its the ajustors that count when it comes to a claim. This is why you should pick a company deals with classic cars. (Hagerty, American Modern, Grundy, JC taylor) Your rolling the dice when comes to the "big" insurance companies and how well they will handle your car.

I really like the "agreed upon value" feature so when you need them they can't make up some depreciated value that you have to fight. This way you know what you're going to get.

You should get the classic car auto insurance quotes from AARP Hartford. I have 3 cars insured under them and got the multi-car discount- win!
