For about 10K in off the shelf parts( used engine included) you can drop a 460 cid in your MKIV pushing 700+ HP & 700+ TQ Of course you will have to beef up your other running gear just a wee bit! But @ 2,300lbs or less; what a MONSTER! you would have!! But if you are concerned about you & your guest keeping dry pants! Just drop a sbf in, you'll still have a blast! I too recently ordered a MKIV. I have a line on a DOVE-A block and a set of SCJ iron heads. I like the stroker options out there, and am a bit overwhelmed by all the cam/piston/crank/intake/carb/injection choices out there. Like 500+ HP and TQ #s on pump gas, single carb, and maybe a hyd roller setup. I'd love to have suggestions as to a good combo to get where I'd like to be. Thanks!
