Cool Collector plates in Wa state

I Have not seen collector plates discussed before. In wa if the vehicle at least 30 yrs old it is elligable for collector plates.
I think most cobras in wa are titled as mid sixtys(mine is 65)
The great thing is you do not need front plates.
Details can be found on the department of licensing web site

Default CV Plates

Tim,
You are correct that if you have the collector plates you do not run a front plate. As a bonus no emissions tests and no more having to buy tabs. It is a one time fee. The bad news is that there are a bunch of us that have our cobras titled as the year it was built. This is not by choice, but rather how the state decided to do things.

I saw a whole lot of WA and other states LP's at one of the antique stores off of Alaska Way. They were from various years and were for sale. Don't remember which store but it was close to the ferry terminal, the plates were hung all along one wall, some singles lots of doubles. This was last Feb/Mar. One of those "Honey, we need to go shopping days" we sometimes have to endure

Not sure just how your vehicle code reads for the Historical plates, but here in this republic no replica, regardless of when it was titled can get them. The car must be 30 years old, have been a special type car, limited production of that particular type, and be made by one of the car companies. Example, they made a ton of Cudas in the late 60s and 70s but some with the Hemis and 440 six packs qualify, while many with the regular 440 engines don't because they are considered a mass produced vehicle. I don't remember all the paper work I had to show to get them for my 60 Torino Cobra, but it took me a couple of months and I had to finally take the registry in to the DMV and show them every item right down to the interior code and type of bucket seat in the registry, because they made a lot of 68/69 Fairlanes and Torino GTs and the DMV didn't know what the Cobra was. Hope that yours are easier to get.

Ron
