This is what I just received from Bill on the Historics.

Hi All,

I was at the track over the weekend to see what kind of changes had been made to the car corral area. There is both good news and bad, although there are more detrimental changes than beneficial ones as far as our event is concerned. There is a lot of work being done at the track and every year is going to be a new adventure for the foreseeable future. As far as the changes to the car corral area are concerned, here goes.

1. The driveways through the corral area were paved last week and a lot of gravel has been spread over the areas that used to be bare dirt. This should keep dust down a bit but the problem is that the pavement isn't at grade level. In places, there are sizeable steps. It's going to be difficult to get cars with low ground clearance over them. I don't think that there will be problems with sedan-type vehicles but anything with spoilers, low exhaust systems, etc. is apt to scrape. If anyone will be at the track in the next week or so, I'd appreciate your feedback.

2. Brett Chevrolet has a display area in the corral area so we will be losing the use of much of the area near the administration buildings and the paving operation has made much of the area behind the grandstand unusable for parking. One of the event sponsors will have a 20 x 40 tent in in the area by the track. What this means is that the rest of the corral will be rather crowded, especially on Saturday. As usual, that day is over subscribed. I'd really appreciate it if anyone that will be at the track both days consider foregoing the parade laps on Saturday so we can have manageable parade lap group sizes.

3. The rearrangement of fences and driveways means that cars will have to be parked two deep in almost all of the area by the track.

4. On a more positive note, the little house near the entry gate is gone and I think that we have arranged to have the motor homes and equipment trailers removed or at other locations for the event.

I expect other changes in the next week.
