M.O.C.C. Inaugural Picnic!!

Mid-Ohio Cobra Club
First Meeting
Saturday, May 15 (Rain Date: Saturday, June 5)

Lexington, OH

Attention Ohio Cobra Club Members!!

Just what we need, another chapter of the OCC, right?

Well, there just so happens to be a really great race track in Lexington, not to mention, it’s a nice central location between Cleveland and Columbus. It seems like a natural outlet for OCC members from all over to gather!

Please join us on May 15th for a meet and greet in Lexington at the Clear Fork Reservoir. There are 5 picnic areas at the reservoir, and I’m not sure yet which one will be our venue, but they are all within a mile of each other, so those details will come later.

At this meeting, I will be distributing a calendar of events to be held in the area. Being a race town, Lexington (and surrounding cities) seems to be a hotbed for car related events. None of them are necessarily Cobra specific, but it’s always nice to make a PRESENCE, rather than just an appearance.

There’s nothing quite like seeing a parade of Cobras (even if it’s just 3 or 4) rolling into the track together, or just cruising through town.

The event will be free, and soft drinks and snacks will be provided at the lake. Unfortunately, the reservoir is owned by the City of Mansfield, and as such, it is a DRY venue. What to do?

Well, I figure we can spend an hour or two there, snack, meet each other, pick up some goodies, and then we’ll all head into Lexington (5 minutes away) for pizza, burgers, fries, and beers at Buck’s or Mike’s (both local race crowd hangouts). :D

This is NOT a “car” event, so don’t worry about the weather. However, it would be great to see everybody’s beautiful car, so if the forecast is looking bad, I will reschedule for June 5. If it’s raining on June 5, bring the family cruiser, and we’ll find shelter!:JEKYLHYDE

I will post more details later, and hopefully Rick can add this to the OCC calendar.

I look forward to seeing many of you that I’ve already met and meeting new people on 5/15.

Already added to event list! Thanks for putting this together for us and see you there!

Folks, don't forget about the event that Frank put together in June as well, the first OCC show!

JP...if it's available can we bring the DV car? :) Hey, we've got a lot of raffle tickets to sell!
DV...Is the 0ld A&W rootbeer stand still in Lexington? I think it was on Orchard Pk. Dr. & 42 ?

MidOHasp 04-06-2004 02:50 PM

Can you bring the DV car? Uh....YEAH!! Bring something that looks like a Cobra, DV! If it's the DV car, then that's double good...haha.

JP

PS - No A&W rootbeer stand. Not even in the last 22 years as far as I know. That location is a car wash/gas station/oil change place. It could be worse, I guess... :)

MidOHasp 04-06-2004 02:54 PM

just re-read this post. could have come off like the DV car doesn't look like a Cobra. The DV looks unlike a Cobra only in good ways. The emphasis was on "something" :JEKYLHYDE

I.E. - Bring SOMETHING!!! that is a Cobra of sorts. If it's the DV car, then sweet. Always a conversation piece everywhere!!

Rick

Time to meet at Clear-Fork? I'm about 2 hours away but will try to make it.

MidOHasp 04-21-2004 03:56 PM

What happened, Rick??

Looks like we're still on for 5/15...don't have a time of day set yet.

Open to suggestions, but recommending mid-afternoon since the place is D-R-Y and then we can go to Buck's or Mike's or Casa Fiesta (if everyone's asses can handle it) for refreshments after.

MidOHasp 04-21-2004 03:59 PM

DV - you waiting to see if we get enough interested before committing on bringing the DV car??

Have faith in us...Bring the DV car and I'll buy you a beer. :)

Nothing is wrong with the car. It is that I have so many projects to do this spring I fear it will not be running much between here and DVSF. But I will definiatly try and have it running on the 15th!

Is that the Casa Fiesta in Mansfield? Seems to me that it the one that a aquantence of mine owns. Favio. If it is and he is there he would take very good care of us!

Rick

MidOHasp 04-22-2004 06:27 AM

You know what, you're right! It is Casa Fiesta in Mansfield. I always do that. We could go there!!!

I was thinking Pueblo Grande... Was Kardell's a long time ago (your time in Lexingto, DV??) Then Lexington Restaurant. Then Kardell's again, then Bayo Cafe (that place was GREAT!). Now it's Pueblo Grande, home of the 48oz. Margaritas. First place that's been successful in that location in at least 23 years...

I guess it just goes to show that you have to appeal to the masses. In a race town like Lexington, I guess people just want to get drunk and crap themselves.

See you ALL on the 15th!

REMINDER!! MAY 15th, 4PM at Clear Fork Reservoir.

M.O.C.C. Inaugural picnic. Come shoot the breeze, get some event schedules, show off your wheels, do some burnouts, see if you can create a tide in the lake w/ your sidepipes, then retire to Buck's, Mike's, or some Mexican place for food and beverage.

I will also have some details regarding the Ohio Cobra Club Calendar that is going to be put together by the MOCC.

Rick, Frank, DV, spread the word to others that may not be here on CC. I'm hoping for a good turnout!!

Come on up, down, or over...there is some beautiful driving to be done, and I figure after we wrap up at the lake (6?), we can go for a nice cruise taking the "scenic route" to the restaurant where we all end up for dinner/drinks. Should give the locals something to talk about...that way the next time Porsche Club comes to Lexington, everyone's saying "whoo. these cars suck. where are the cobras??"

I'll send directions out next week. SEE YOU ALL THERE.

JP

I put on my desk calendar to send a reminder to every one on Monday May 10. I will include the information from this thread and any thing else you send me. The information about the picnic and or the link has been in every note I have sent out since you announced it. I know there are at least four planning on coming from Columbus.
Rick

MidOHasp 04-27-2004 02:34 PM

Rick,

How many notes have you sent out since I announced this? I've rec'd one email from you since I told you I wasn't on your mailing list . . . about oh . . . 5 or 6 weeks ago??

Am I being discriminated against for having a Windsor instead of a Cleveland? :)

Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else.

rdorman 04-28-2004 06:17 AM

I have been sending to justinleedy@adelphia.net. Do you want me to use Justin_Leedy@Progressive.com or justinleedy@yahoo.com or.................................

I have sent out 3 since 3/25.

Thanks
Rick

Just a reminder - 5/15, this coming Saturday. Forecast rain starting today and ending never! I figure since that's 5 days away, they couldn't possibly be right, so it will be SUNNY!

I sent an email to the entire OCC distribution that Rick gave me, so check your inboxes. I sent details and directions. Come rain or shine, no need to have the Cobra...this is more of a meet each other, I pass out a calendar of Mid-Ohio related events, and we all go eat beer or pizzas or tacos and drink beer.

If you don't get an email from me, let me know. I will copy the details into a post here at CC.

Thanks!! See you there!

JP

Saturday's Forecast:

Morning T'Storms, clearing up to be a GORGEOUS day...mostly sunny by afternoon, high in the lower 60's. The cars should be running like champs, nobody will be leaving a$$-sweat marks on their seats, and it should just be a great day.

I added a little event in the middle of the day if the weather is nice and you all bring your Cobras... figured we could go for a cruise around the Mid-Ohio area. Nothing huge or too long, just a nice "scenic" trip to the house of beer and meat. :D

But just remember...this is a COBRA OPTIONAL event. If it's raining, I still hope to see many of you there. We gots some stuff to talk about!!! Cool stuff planned you need to know about!! And I heard that we have a surplus of beer in Lexington right now, Bratwurst, too, Rick!!!

JP :):)

rdorman 05-14-2004 07:13 AM

Mmmmmmmmmm beer!

I am bringing my car and I am running grooved slicks so no one else has an excuse!

See ya all tomorrow!

Remember those coming through or from Columbus. We LEAVE the gas station at Polaris at 3 sharp!

Rick
