Default Rt. 66 Cruise - Finally!

Some of us out here in NE Oklahoma are finally doing the Rt. 66 Cruise, here are the details:

1. Date: October 1st.
2. Leave from Freddies BBQ in Sapulpa between 9:00 & 9:15 am
3. Cruise on Rt. 66 to Pops Soda Fountain and the Round Barn in Arcadia
4. We’ll make some stops along the way to check out a few museums, attractions, etc.
5. Probably return home the same way or you can take I-44 for a quick run home
6. Should be about 220 miles
7. Rain date is Oct. 15th.

In a previous thread, some of the Oak City area Cobra folks expressed interest in meeting us at Pops or at Freddies BBQ. If anyone is still interested just let me know, it'd be great to meet you guys.

See ya,
Randy

Sometimes I wish I didn't have so many hobbies, I have two races here in town that day, and won't be able to make it sadly. Maybe next time though.

Well, if the weather doesn't cooperate that day, we'll be going on Oct. 15th.

Sounds like a fun cruise Randy. 220 miles is about 3 stops for fuel for me if I have a full tank in Sapulpa. For both of us (you coming from Owasso and me from East Broken Arrow) it is about 30 miles to get to Sapulpa. But, that is a good jumping off place for this cruise.

If the weather is good I will be there. What time do you think you will be at POPs? Where is Freddies BBQ in Sapulpa should I decide to drive up there?

Sounds good Jerry! I'll send you a pm tomorrow night, too tired to even type right now, it's been a long, exhausting day. I must be getting old................

Yep, the cruise took place, got to meet jrite8888 from here on the forum. We had a good time, I logged 252 miles on the Cobra.

Pictures are coming, I'm waiting for our "token photographer" to e-mail them to me.

We're hoping to do the cruise again in spring since there's so much to see on Rt.66, we have to do it again!

Randy

I would have loved to have been there, but I simply couldn't fit it in my schedule, glad it was such a good time. How many Cobras/people came out for the event?

Wish I could have made it, too. Did anyone have any pics to post. Hope I can make it the next time.

Clois sounds like a nice quick cruise. The museum is great. Old Thread but worth a Post..

You may recall I drove the Route 66 with Hersh years ago.

Think the best way to see the old Kit Car article is Google - Route 66 GT40 kit car. It brings up the old Kit Car article on our cruise.

makes me feel like joining you there for the cruise if you do it again..
