Suitcase Bump Dimensions
Does anyone have the correct dimensions for the suitcase bump which was installed in the back panel behind the seats on 427 S/C's? I've attached a picture of CSX3032 behind the passenger seat so that you can see what I'm referring to.

I thought the 427 trunk was large enough for the FIA suitcase without bumps and bulges?

No, the original S/C's and comp cars had a suitcase bump as shown in the photo of CSX3032 which I attached. The reason for the bump was due to the 42 gallon fuel tank taking up most of the boot (trunk for you USA guys) space, which then caused the spare wheel to completely fill the remaining space. The only place for the FIA suitcase was at the back of the boot, above the differential and hence the need for the suitcase bump in the back panel behing the seats.
So after all that, does anyone have the dimensions for said bump?

I just checked out a kirkham or 4000 series for sale on Cobra Country last night that
had this pic. I'm not sure if this is the suitcase bump that you a referring to, but I grabbed
the pic, because I had never seen this mod before. If this is it, I bet you could scale it in a
CAD program, using the 3/4 support next to it as reference. If you get me your email address,
I can send the higher res image.
Hope any of this helps.
Mike.

Thanks Krausewich,
Yes that's the suitcase bump I'm referring to. Many thanks for the offer to e-mail the pic, but I have lots of pictures already, I just want to get the actual dimensions so that I can make one myself. I'll probably give David Kirkham a call or failing that Gerry Hawkridge in the UK - one of them should be able to help me out.

The bump measures 26" wide, 5" high and is 1 1/4" deep at the top, all the folded over edges for attachment tabs are about 3/4". If you center it in the rear bulkhead 2" down at the centre from the underneath of the cowl that should be good. If anyone needs help making them I have them but you should be good with numbers to make them yourself if you have the capabilities.
