CSX owners: request for pic of rear cockpit
1 Attachment(s)
Ive been trying to figure out how the FIA suitcase 'box' on the rear firewall should be finished off. Got the dimensions from here (thanks Mickmate), and a few partial pics (1 enclosed), but none that show how the top and ends are finished off.
I went down to a local museum that had a 65 car, but its been rebuilt (or modded) by Autocraft - lots of details incorrect. They have covered the enitre back of the cockpit with carpet, which i know is wrong for a 65 car. follows on from this thread.....with a few more pics... http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/originality-forum/100992-suitcase-bump-dimensions.html can anyone help? cheers, kevin |

Looks like I can only attach 1 pic at a time, so heres another from the inside of the boot (trunk?) - the inset ali wedge-shaped panel on the left hand side on the rear firewall is what im trying to finish correctly inside the cockpit.

Hey Kevin, I think if you do the vinyl over the bump like the aluminum is with tabs off the sides and do a rectangular cutout to fit over it that will be close. I'll try and find some better pics of inside.

Here's a shot of the inside of my trunk. Kevin, what is the brand of your fuel pump. Mine is the same and it died last weekend.

Tim, lovely boot/trunk, one day my car will look similar. Those pics are not my car sadly - they are from an original 60s CSX car painted gold that was advertised on ebay last year - went for $$$$$$$$ :). the pics were great, so i downloaded all of 'em from the ad! so that would be the riginal fuel pump I think, not currently commercially available, unless you can get NOS - I could be wrong, as i dont actually own a real (oops :) ) CS car.
Mick, any pics would be great, i have scoured the net without success, and im wondering if i need to employ a trimmer to do the job properly - from pics i have it looks like there are two pieces stitched together horizontally around half way up the 'box', so im guessing a top piece is pulled over and stretched like a 'cake tin lid' over the edge, and then stitched onto the other piece, but i'm guessing and could well be wrong. |

many thanks, but not quite what im looking for.
the fia suitcse box featured on most of the 427 S/C or Comp cars i beleive, but not on the 289s or 427Rs. i'll try and load a pic of the incorrectly-carpetted autocraft version that i snapped on the weekend. |

Hey Kevin
Is this what you're after? CSX3004: http://www.csxinfo.net/web/modules/x...338&fullsize=1 Larry |
Larry thanks thats the best pic so fa - must have missed that one when i was searching. If anyone has a close up that would be great I cant quite see how its finished off on the side/top corners.

Kevin
I've seen originals a couple different ways. The bulkhead upholstered and the bump-out not. I've seen the bump-out upholstered AND the bulkhead as well but they were two seperate pieces. Always in vinyl. Not carpet or leather on comp cars. I've also seen the whole thing painted black. Which is correct... I don't know. May be different depending on which CSX it is. Larry |

What I've seen in person ( on SC's) is it's covered in vinyl, with the suitcase part also covered in vinyl. The trunk side as always been just unfinished aluminum.
BTW, I've seen most of those photo's before but all together is great find Nick! Larry |
