Candess gas cap to body gasket

Hi mickmate. I will always bow to your wisdom. But the grasshopper likes DanEC's gasket. Looks more "finished" and hides the base/bottom of the gas cap and seems to conform to the curve of the fender real well..

And wasn't the splitter chrome trim piece made from an early/mid 60's VW Beetle side moulding? Or was this an old wives tale?

Greg, The original trim was stainless steel and is in T shape with the rib projecting forward. It is formed at both ends. I bought I believe the last one from AC Cars a very long time ago. I am sure they pilfered it from another car but it wouldn't have be a VW Beetle.

Greg - I might be able to do better than that because I think I saw a second one in my box of accumulated spare parts. I don't remember why I picked up two - maybe they came two to a pack. I'll check this evening and if so I can send it to you. No point in it rotting away in my garage for the next 20 years (unless I get a leaking toilet bowl).
