Default Seat Runners

Hi All,

does anyone know the make of seat runners originally used on 289 cars/ what else they were used on? They have a very short stubby adjuster handle I believe, quite different to most I've seen available.

thanks for any help

Default reproduction insert (extremely good copy)

Leveroll Seat Knob Emblem AC Ace Aceca Cobra Bristol | eBay

I purchased a pair of these and they are extremely good copies of the originals.

It's not good news, I'm afraid - the originals used Leveroll runners as Dan has indicated. The only other car I have found that used the same design of runner was Aston Martin, on the DB4/5/6 series, and these were slightly shorter in length. Needless to say the Aston parts are not easy to find as they are not remanufactured. Gerry Hawkridge could supply good repro runners in the past, but the manufacturing tool was damaged some time ago and I don't think it's been repaired.
I find it hard to believe that the runners were unique to Cobra (and presumably Ace), as that's not how the British motor industry operated in the 50s and 60s - but I have looked long and hard for these. If anybody knows any different, please let me know!
Maybe if we all (as I have) contact Gerry and pester him to repair the tool?

Roger

If you pester him as well, we may get somewhere - although the tool's been bust for well over a year!

I would love to buy an accurate reproduction of the seat runners. I have been looking for the Aston runners for quite some time but the closest I have come is a pair of original Aston seats including runners that were selling for close to $3K. Please put me on the list if Gerry is willing to repair the tool. In the interim, I have purchased a pair of Kirkham runners which are very nice but not very original looking.
