This car has been perpetually for sale. I've seen it at auctions, at shows, ebay, and classifieds:

At one point the seller was marketing it with an aluminum body

Which is surrendered to the DMV when you get your first title. A MSO is "title #0". Every time you re-title a car you give the signed over title and get a new one, else there would be untold number of titles floating out there.

Yes, but who wouldn't keep a copy of the MSO for a CSX?

Hi All
Thanks for all the feedback, but just got the message from Belgian cutoms that they will not accept a CSX4xxx as a 1965 car, so this means it is a new car which destroys all the value. They only accept the real thing as a 1965.

I kept mine, but as this car changed hands a few times, it may have been lost in the shuffle. Would also check the other markings to be sure though, like the CSX number on the front passenger frame upright....

Yes, by all means keep a copy, and a color copy at that, but all new docs will copy with "copy" in the background. I have copies of the previous titles for both the Cobra and the GT. Some people have been known to declare the title lost and get a replacement title. I don't buy many cars and walked away from one (just a driver) because it would have had a replacement title.
It's unusual for mere mortals to actually have the MSO in their hands. It's of course common for replicas since the first delivery is from manufacturer to owner, but the only time I ever got a MSO was when I bought my truck out of state. My Arizona Mustangs were titled with no sales tax due but the Nevada dealer just sent me the MSO. Now what happens if you lose a MSO? I don't know if the manufacturer is prepared to do that.
