Default CSX3246 with shaved letter BFG's

The January 2014 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine did a nice article on CSX3246. Beautiful car!

In the article they talk about the tires: BFG's with shaved letters.

Is that letter shaving a process that can be done at home with sandpaper/sanding discs or is it a professional shop process.

If it's a home process, can anyone describe the process steps to me or direct me to a website.

Or if its a professional shop process, anyone in the Los Angeles area.

Cheers
Greg

You can shave letters with a 2" disc sanding pad and then to scotchbrite but as Jeff said don't bother with TA's.

I've used bfgta for a decade. They look great, wear great, inexpensive and I beat the sheet out of my 550hp plant. If I am going to track I will use a corvette with real brakes.

Thanks for your opinions on BFG's. Wasn't trying to start a discussion on the pros & cons of tire makes. But I wonder what tires were on those unfortunate Cobra owners cars we see who have wrecked their cars? Or is a drivers experience and good judgement as big a factor as equipment?

Anyway, just wanted to know how to remove tire lettering regardless of the tire make.

Think I found a good article on the net.

Cheers
Greg

BFG's are dangerous..........

7 years and 20+ thousand miles on mine with BFGs. Not exactly an ultra-perf tire but they are fine if you don't drive like an idiot. If you do it doesn't matter much what tire you have.

Here's the link to the site which has tips on tire letter removal. Look at both pages for good info.
