On a 289 car what is colour on Girling 16/3 and 12/3H caliper,gold ,silver ,painted or plated ?,

50s and 60s British cars typically had yellow cadmium plate, now not possible in the UK. I have mine done in yellow passivated zinc, which is as close as you can get.

The new old stock Cobra ones I pulled from shipping boxes in the 1980s to examine had no dichromate conversion coating, just plain cadmium plating which ages to a light gray. I have not seen any dichromate on any of the original brake calipers I have rebuilt on street Cobras.

Long ago CSX2310 still had the ink stamps on the rear calipers (assembly numbers and other text) that eventually washed off.
