Throttle linkage
Does anyone have a picture of the bracket that bolts on the rear driver's side of the Ford intake to support the throttle linkage, for Autolite carb? Does it use a rod end bearing as the pivot for the linkage rod?

Is it a PCV or just a vent?
If it's just a vent, I have something that looks very similar and would probably suffice that you can have. Paul |
Hi Paul,
No, it's a PCV, goes into the carb spacer. The early Hipos had a road draft tube which came off the cast triangular platform at the back of the intake, but mine is slightly later and that casting is not drilled. Pretty sure that PCV is a very rare piece. I have a regular plastic/metal Mustang one as a back up, but the brass would be nice. Roger |

A production valve with anything left of the round paper tag is very rare. I have only seen one production valve in a service part package in lots of years of paying attention. Mr. Mannel’s book covers the evolution of the valve design in some depth, external what you can see and internal to address issues in use. The most common way to get both a production valve and brass elbow as used in 1964-65 Cobras is from any 289 V8 PCV set up from its 1964 Fairlane or Comet valve cover. The most common situation to find them is where somebody is trying to sell a set of nasty old valve covers with the elbow and valve still in place in its PCV side valve cover. (Just being old doesn’t mean anything because PCV valves were parts frequently changed during routine service instead of dismantling them for cleaning.) As long as the internal parts are not badly corroded they can usually be cleaned and reused. Dan |

The PCV valve is threaded on top and screws into the elbow. There are reproduction elbows that are close to the one pictured made today. I have a PCV valve on the way that looks similar but the hex isn't as tall. I think it's correct but won't know for sure until I get it. Hopefully it'll arrive this week.

Thanks for the pic - I've found one of those and am now waiting for it to arrive. Anyone have a good source for the brass elbow?
It seems pipe barb is for 1/2" ID hose. Can anyone tell me the size of the threaded hole, to match the PCV thread? Roger |
I swear Drake used to sell a reproduction elbow but they don't list one now. I'll keep looking.

That's close, real close but I think the BSPT is wrong. I'm not 100% sure yet though.
