Default Repro 289 Cobra McCord radiator

If anyone recalls the person I believe in Michigan that was reproducing the McCord radiator for a 289 Cobra, would you please inform me. I have photos of the radiator he manufactured. Thank you. Regards, AJ

Hey AJ, Dave Wagner reproduced them in copper a few years ago. I'm assuming you could still get one from him but I haven't tried yet. You're farther along than I am.
I've also heard rumor that someone, maybe Dave, made copies in aluminum that were slightly thicker but still had the right shape and right sheet metal top. I havent been able to find one though.
That's all I know so far.

Kind of depends on what series car you're replicating. Somewhere around 2160 or something like that, the switch was made from Harrison to McCord. Wagner had the McCord radiator replicated by someone and it looks good, at least from photo's. I have no idea about price or availability.

One of Wagner's radiators:

Larry, You're right. It is Dave Wagner I am thinking of. His units were copper and brass. He also had them on ebay if I am correct. I prefer copper and brass as it is easier for me to do the repairs versus aluminum welding. Would like to get a radiator to check setup of body tubing when I have them situated.

Jeff, Isn't the early vette radiator an aluminum one? Even though I have seen the radiators in the past, I have never really looked at them as to the material and core thickness.

Thanks guy. You have been a great help.
AJ

Yes, alloy
Alloy core and glued together.
Used on early cars. Once they leak hard to repair.

That's not too bad of a price considering all the work to get it right. Leaf spring stuff is expensive but you got to pay if you want to play!

Having made radiators with a custom core from Modine running around $500 plus material and time for fabrication of tanks and then taking to have it pressure tested brings you around the grand mark easily. Jeff, thanks for info on the vette one. Thought they were aluminum.

Happy New Year guys,
AJ
