Default Sun tach

Some race cars (e.g. 2128, 2129, 2137) had the sun tach mounted. Does someone know where the transmitter box was located?

Thanks in advance
Migge

I have a new one Jeff :-)
Changed even the green line vintage scale to the new tach.

Just want to mount the empty transmitter box as empty for original look :-)

I have seen photos with the box mounted on top of the passengers side foot box. I will see if I can find the photo. I have two of the original sending units from 2011, one from when ran the "Spalding" distributor and the other when it ran the standard Ford dual point distributor.

As far as I know, it was mounted by the heater on the cockpit side of the firewall. Production Cobras used a tach sender as well.

The production Stewart Warner sending unit for the Stewart Warner tachometer was mounted inside the cockpit on driver's side of the firewall next to the heater.

Here is a period photo of a SHELBY AMERICAN INC. team 289 Cobra roadster installation of the Sun manufactured electric tachometer sending unit on top of the passengers side foot box, other locations may have also been possible....

Here are is the original tachometer and signal sending unit from CSX2011 when it ran the 260 engine. The brown area that looks like dirt on the tach face is actually tape residue that marked the max rpm area.

Anyone possibly have a pic showing tape (or not) covering the drivers side airvent hole?
Thank you,
Ross

Here is a photo of the depth difference between the Sun tach that uses the signal box (right side) and the Sun (original 1960s part) tach that does not use a signal box....
