Were the original 289 FIA race seats covered in vinyl or leather?

John (CompClassics) could tell you for sure but in general terms, I think original comp seats
were vinyl.

Here is a picture of the car, unrestored. Leather passenger seat does not hold up as well.

Not vinyl its Naugahyde......
Larry is correct John should confirm

I think they must have killed two nauga for mine! Thank you both for confirming that. The weather is good now, so all is well Jeff. Our rainfall in
the bay area was 4 or 5 times normal this year so my car wants some exercise.
What I needed was a snappy new garage like you just finished, but I stayed
afloat with what I've got! Good job on yours!

Yep, as the previous posters have stated vinyl would be correct.
