Motor Mounts on Original S/C's
Hey all,
I was looking at a photo of my favorite original (CSX 3014) and noticed that where they come through, the headers are VERY close to the body.
I would think the rocking of the engine would cause the header to hit the body. Did the original's use solid motor mounts?

No, they used rubber mounts. The headers probably do touch the body when the car is at full throttle.

This is what we do on the high-horsepower cars.

I already had planned on doing that to my mounts.
Thanks for the link!

good morning,
as a matter of interest, cold the engine be mounted solid?
well, I did, and didn't consider the vibrations to be severe enough to bother me.
It does stengthen the chassis, doesn't it?

My brother is using solid mounts on his FFR, has had zero trouble and now swears by them. He doesn't notice any more vibration than when he used poly mounts.

motor mounts
Help I have a shell valley car that had a 427 in it. I purchased the car without the engine and am replacing it with a early modle 390 that has two holes for the mounts to bolt to. I have tried four sets of mounts and none work. Can anyone help?

In an attempt to get this thread back into the "Originality Forum", I believe that original cars used two bolt motor mounts, even though the blocks had provisions for three.

Original 427 coil spring cars (comp, SC and street) used the C1MM mount. This mount is very rare. It has a different offset than the Buffalo and Anchor mounts that are available at NAPA, etc.
