Windshield angle

hi all,
I was hoping that someone out there would know of the accurate rake for the windshield angle. If their are any Kirkham, Shelby or Contemporary guys that would be able to provide measurements, that would be a bonus!

Are you planning a top, and more importantly, side curtains? If so, I'd strongly suggest you obtain at least the sidecurtains before permanently securing your windshield. Set the windshield to the angle that will fit the side curtains snugly.
If you aren't planning a top or sidecurtains, then the windshield angle is not that critical. The angle can be measured by placing an adjustable square with a leveling bubble in it along an imaginary vertical line at the center of the windshield. I believe most use 45 degrees.

That, however, is an FIA. They purposely left the windshield a bit loose so it laid back more than normal at speed. The 427 angle should be about 45 degrees at the center of the glass.

When AC built these cars, which was built first and what was "fitted" later?

It would appear that the side curtains were jig built, all alike?

It would appear that the door frames were jig built, all alike?

It would appear that the windshield must have been custom installed to account for the variation in the body/door fit to the frame with the pre-installed door ferrules? (HINT: Its a non-trivial fit issue)

Any ORIGINAL car photos of the side curtain to windshield fit?

What was the ORIGINAL AC installation sequence?

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the pic and the measurement Doug. I plan on designing a hardtop, soft top and side curtains available to everyone. I'm hoping to find a good baseline to start my work. This helps greatly.

My CSX is not at that rake because Shelby cut the windshield mounting tap too short on the right side so its not as raked. Actually its set more like the original although I would like more rake.

B and B replicas measure from the center of the windscreen to the back of the cockpit - 36". maybe it would be more accurate to measure a few different types to get a base line ?

Hi guys.
Getting a fair sample is what I"m going for. Here are two excellent examples that I have found of lean and sleek. I like the Black car, because it has the nice laid back window, along with the low top. The blue car is a Contemporary which have always had a great angle. Thanks for keeping this thread going.

Gentlemen, in trying to obtain one for my Autokraft AC MKIV (a semi -production car), that if the car is a accurate MKIII vehicle, it will be able to use a production top and bows. Side curtain materials are available from many UK sellers and should be completed first as they become hard reference points.
All that siad, it will take a experienced installer some hours to fit a production top.
I'm having a scratch one made and the labor to make the patterns and then the top and fit is extensive as well.
If it didn't rain in jersey at the drop of a hat or get cold so early in the year, I wouldn't bother, but the driving experiece is so good.

My CCX windscreen angle:
My car is pulled back like an early 289 comp car ~ 42 degrees.

Problematic if I were to use side curtains...................
