Thats right Woodzy, the "I" terminal for a full 12 voltage igniton source ONLY when the solenoid is actually engaged (starter turning over). No doubt the original Cobras ran this type of solenoid. Not required or wanted with electronic ignition (depending on the type).

My buddy recently purchased a nice 'hot rod 32 Ford', blown 302, old point type ignition, hard as heck to start. One day he says, "You know a lot of times it starts JUST when I let off the key and quit trying." Then it hit me, I told him check his solenoid, sure enough, he was missing the "I" terminal. He changed it out, ran a new wire and it starts right up every time now.

I think his was RED (as I recall)...

The solonoid on CSX 3288 is black with large number 2701966 on the top. (the brown bakelite is underneath the black coating). the car was sent to Shelby from AC in July 1966 and finished by January, 1967. I hope this helps. Jim
