No, I think it's the A-H 100-4, if I remember.

I was told it was a Lucas brand mirror...103 I believe. Also, I have seen a couple of variations...all have the krinkle or wrinkle black finish on the mirror support brackets. I think the rear of the mirror should be in the same finish as well.

I looked at my pictures of Peter's original street car. The center mirror's stand is all chrome but the backside of the mirror is wrinkle black, while the mirror mounting clamp appears plated black.

I think it's foolish what that stuff bids up to and still doesn't meet reserve! Great picture Bob.

Original mirror

Many years ago I had a new mirror made, as my ori9ginal mirror had stsrted to get those funny looking black lines/shadows on it. Very simple, take the original, to a glass/mirror business, have them cut and shape it to the correct size, and spray it with black wrinkle paint.

NO ONE will know, since there are no identifying marks on the mirror.

These are some pics on the one I made. I've been looking for an original but you can barely tell this one from an original(IMHO).

That came out great! Mine is good from the front but needs work from the backside.

Your bracket in the back is "v" shaped, the originals were semi-circle...I just used a dremel tool to make the shape...I used Eastowood krinkle paint - used other that did not work...

Jeff:

Another thing I see is it looks like you have the nut on the top and the screw on the bottom...should be reveresed. Honestly it looks great...no one will know the difference...certainly if you come across one grab it...

None of those ebay mirrors are correct, the base is wrong. However, the wrong base is also what's used on ALL non-original Cobras, so one of those vintage ebay mirrors would probably bolt right on. Even on my own car, installing the correct mirror was a challenge because the bolt spacing is different.

The proper Lucas mirror (as seen in Bob's pic above and mine below) has a longer stem, a non stepped base, and the base is hollow underneath and has a rounded top shape. Also, the "clamps" that hold the glass on an original mirror are not symmetrical, there is one long and one short so the stem is actually offset on the glass.

And depending on how technical you want to get, most S/Cs had the mirror stem pointed forward, not back, and the mirror is supposed to be about an inch to the right of center, not centered on the dash (I won't be changing that anytime soon).

Here's a pic of my original mirror in my car. Look carefully and you can see the end of the "clamps" behind the mirror and see how they are not in the middle of the glass....

So the eversure on e-bay isn't (gasp) correct! It's supposed to be a Lucas.........

David Kirkham 02-08-2009 11:43 PM

No, it isn't right. The crinkle paint ones are right.

If I reach back into the dark recesses of my memory, I am pretty sure we made a drawing of the original mirror years ago.

But, you'd have to read Polish to understand it!

I communicated with the guy who had the Eversure mirror on Ebay. I believe that mirror is for an Austin Healey 100-4. Post Ebay listing timeframe he received an offer of $250 from Japan and a "name your price offer" from someone else. Interesting.
