Look what a customer just sent us! Photos of his CorVace.

Anyone have any more CorVace pictures or information? Please post them here! This car had a Chevy V-8.

The interior is virtually identical to a 260 Cobra.

Well, it seems as if the pictures are from '57? That would make the V8 a 265 CI, wouldn't it?
I'm really curious is this was a hot rodding proposition or was there some corporate cooperation greasing the skids? Maybe GM wanted to go racing even before CS had this in mind?

The customer just emailed me. He thinks his car was a 1960 or a 1961. We should check into those years to make sure. Anyone know anything?

He said he took the pictures in the mid 60's

I don't know. That is one of the questions the customer who sent me the photos had. Any info would be greatly appreciated on the subject.

If you can figure it out and document it, that could get CS's panties in a bunch as well as put an end to silly lawsuits?

We aren't interested in bunched up underwear. There are too many cool things in life to think about instead. We are just interested in the history and so is our customer. I figured if any bunch of guys could answer this question, you guys could!

David,
Can you get a chassis number from your customer? There are a few Chevy powered Aces kicking around, but none of them came from the factory that way, that I am aware of. However, BEX327 (you should probably be able to Google it to get the complete story) was delivered to the US without an engine in 1957, and had a Chevy V8 installed in it to go racing. If you can pass along a chassis number I can give you info on its original power plant and point your customer to one of the AC Owner's Club Registrars who may be able to fill in some history on the car.

Thanks, I'll ask the customer what the chassis number was.

Nope. 283 came out for the 57 model year with up to 283HP with factory fuel injection.

Still would be a 283, unless it was late 61, then possibly a 327.

Flat Windshields are available from Brasscraft in the UK. If you want I can probably find contact information.
David,
I have looked at the pictures a little closer and there are some clues, that if original, would have the car as a 1959 or later.

I know that the 283 came out in 57, but my thinking was that if the pics are from 57, the engine had to be from 56 to be ready and installed in the ACE at that time. Could go either way.
Of course, if it was as late as 61 the 327 is the clear winner as it was improved in many ways over the 265 and 283. The 327 is still my favorite Chev engine ever. Must be just because I'm an old fart, ehhh?...... Man, we used to get some serious horsepower out of them when I was a young wrencher...
And in an ACE that would be a real screamer!

So if this car is historically accurate, is KMS going to be providing an option for an LS7 powered roadster? I just need motor mounts and side pipes. I will figure out where to put the oil tank...

No, but if you buy one of their roadsters they'll throw in a bottle of Courvoisier. That's close enough.
