hi all
let me clear some stuff up. first, my name is dennis ratto. i started a new member name for this event in order to help keep things organized. you may email me @
dennisratto@aol.com, or
dratpro@aol.com. our web site is
www.dratpro.com. you can call me @ 775-745-2292. i have a long history with cobras, my neighbor had one in 65, when i was 13. The cobra bug caught on in our neighborhood, and in 1968there were 6 cobras within a block of my house (the 1965 fia champion, 63 289, 62 289, 66 427, and a 65 427). During high school, i either rode in a cobra, or drove one.
in 2000, after living in the state of wa. for 10 years, i moved back to the sf bay area, and was jones'n for a cobra. i went to reno and visited the spf dealer. i was so impressed with the product that i took over the dealership for a number of years...i set the record for spf sales in one year. you can check with any of my many customers, i am "real", AND i deliver what i promise.
how the extreme machine party came about
: after duane stopped the bash, a number of us felt a void, and wanted to bring back the "bash". we drew straws, i lost, so i'm putting it on, lol. if you've ever put on an event like this, you know that you put in a million hours, and still can't make everyone happy, but we try. since, duane still holds events, he wanted to keep his names and logos, thus the name "the extreme machine party-snake edition".
track info: at this time: the track is under new management...this may change shortly back to the old management. i've spoken to the new management and got quotes for track usage, driving instructors, emergency crews, and flaggers (the track is also "reserved" for us). the quote is significantly higher than the past. i'm am negotiating the price, but am hoping the old management takes back over. another big concern is the condition of the track. i will be "walking" the course to see if it's in racing condition, and if not, i would be demanding repairs before our event. we are also exploring other alternatives, such as an auto cross, using pro control driving school for the instruction portion of the event. we are open for other suggestions. whatever is set up, the cost would be divided equally among the individuals participating.
as far as other types of cars at the event: i have invited some of the kit manufacturers to display their other "kits". i would love to see a ffr gtm and 33 hot rod, as well as spf's new corvette grand sport, just to name a few. there will be a special area set up for these cars. we expect only about 5. all the other cars in the coral would be limited to cobras, daytonas, and gt 40's. as far as the cars for sale on the web site: we are not trying to compete against anyone else's site. i have friends who have very nice cars for sale, and do not want the bother of going through conventional ways of selling them. i am happy to help them out with an ad on the site. we would love to have enough cobras to fill the site, however don't, so we are happy to put any "special" interest cars for sale on our site.
as far as attendees: we are in the process of compiling a contact list, and posting it on our web site.
yes, this is our first year, and i know everything isn't going to be perfect from the get go, and there will be a learning curve. i want this event to be better every year, and it will be with your input. i do have a background throwing these kind of events, and i'm am also getting great help from others (you know who you are), in order to make the first year as good as possible.
i hope this has answered some of your concerns and questions. now that i know where this thread is, i will try to answer question a couple of times a day.
thanks
