Please post more information here.
Sounds like it will be similar to WSCB???? If so, that was a great event.

There should be one continuous thread on this event here on Club Cobra. There have been many short threads, can we keep it to one thread so we can all follow along. Is there a master who's attending list posted someplace so we can see who all is going to attend this event ????

I am inclined not to take it seriously, given Mr. "extrememachine" only has 18 post, and is trying to sell other non-Cobra vehicles on the same site he is trying to promote this event.
I recommend not sending any money/checks. A bit fishy if you ask me.

Who's running your track event at RFR and what are their qualifications? Will you be, or are you, providing any support materials especially for novice & first timers prior to them showing up at your track event?
These are some of the most wonderful folks I've had the privilege to be around in the past several years and I'm curious how you plan to run your track day. I'm sure others are wondering the same.
Take care, John

Hi Dennis,
May I suggest that you provide an event email address and/or telephone contact information HERE TOO and posted clearly on the front of your website. I poked around and found it myself, but its kind of hidden behind an object folder on your site when people go there looking. Some folks may not be seeing it or not wanting to PM you, but we found it helps if you include the email address in your posts every single time you reply.
I do know a few who want to reach you directly to get their questions answered about your upcoming Cobra Party and Track event in Reno. We'll help get the word out too once more details and specifics are shared with all of your CC colleagues here. Just trying to help and pass along questions i'm hearing on my end. Thank You. DC

cobra party
hi all
let me clear some stuff up. first, my name is dennis ratto. i started a new member name for this event in order to help keep things organized. you may email me @ dennisratto@aol.com, or dratpro@aol.com. our web site is www.dratpro.com. you can call me @ 775-745-2292. i have a long history with cobras, my neighbor had one in 65, when i was 13. The cobra bug caught on in our neighborhood, and in 1968there were 6 cobras within a block of my house (the 1965 fia champion, 63 289, 62 289, 66 427, and a 65 427). During high school, i either rode in a cobra, or drove one.
in 2000, after living in the state of wa. for 10 years, i moved back to the sf bay area, and was jones'n for a cobra. i went to reno and visited the spf dealer. i was so impressed with the product that i took over the dealership for a number of years...i set the record for spf sales in one year. you can check with any of my many customers, i am "real", AND i deliver what i promise.
how the extreme machine party came about : after duane stopped the bash, a number of us felt a void, and wanted to bring back the "bash". we drew straws, i lost, so i'm putting it on, lol. if you've ever put on an event like this, you know that you put in a million hours, and still can't make everyone happy, but we try. since, duane still holds events, he wanted to keep his names and logos, thus the name "the extreme machine party-snake edition".
track info: at this time: the track is under new management...this may change shortly back to the old management. i've spoken to the new management and got quotes for track usage, driving instructors, emergency crews, and flaggers (the track is also "reserved" for us). the quote is significantly higher than the past. i'm am negotiating the price, but am hoping the old management takes back over. another big concern is the condition of the track. i will be "walking" the course to see if it's in racing condition, and if not, i would be demanding repairs before our event. we are also exploring other alternatives, such as an auto cross, using pro control driving school for the instruction portion of the event. we are open for other suggestions. whatever is set up, the cost would be divided equally among the individuals participating.
as far as other types of cars at the event: i have invited some of the kit manufacturers to display their other "kits". i would love to see a ffr gtm and 33 hot rod, as well as spf's new corvette grand sport, just to name a few. there will be a special area set up for these cars. we expect only about 5. all the other cars in the coral would be limited to cobras, daytonas, and gt 40's. as far as the cars for sale on the web site: we are not trying to compete against anyone else's site. i have friends who have very nice cars for sale, and do not want the bother of going through conventional ways of selling them. i am happy to help them out with an ad on the site. we would love to have enough cobras to fill the site, however don't, so we are happy to put any "special" interest cars for sale on our site.
as far as attendees: we are in the process of compiling a contact list, and posting it on our web site.
yes, this is our first year, and i know everything isn't going to be perfect from the get go, and there will be a learning curve. i want this event to be better every year, and it will be with your input. i do have a background throwing these kind of events, and i'm am also getting great help from others (you know who you are), in order to make the first year as good as possible.
i hope this has answered some of your concerns and questions. now that i know where this thread is, i will try to answer question a couple of times a day.
thanks
dennis ratto

Dennis,
I do have one suggestion which is the use of the term “race” or “racing,” as noticed here and on your website, in connection with your event’s HPDE track day. Are you planning to have races and are you or your organization insured and sanctioned for that activity? Just curious.
Sounds like you have good people helping you and I hope your Cobra Party gets off to a successful start.
Take care, John

atendee list
it has been brought to my attention that the attendees would rather their contact infomation be distributed one on one, and only to a "filtered" group. so, the contact list will be available upon request, at the begining of next week, at DRATPRO@AOL.COM.

track update
Here is the track update:
Today, 4/17, Michael Dietel (general manager, Pro Control Driving School), and myself went to Reno-Fernley Track to meet with the operating management, and inspect the track. Michael and his instructors will be running our track day, so he has the “final” say in track matters.
Our (Michael’s) conclusions:
After driving several laps around the track, we felt that the course we will be running is in “good” shape-no surface is perfect, and more than adequate for our purpose. We will be running the H course. We also checked for adequate “instructional” areas for the novices. This also was fine. BOTTOM LINE, the track is ready for us.
Pro Control will be running the event. We will be sending out a questionnaire to the participants in order to determine “capabilities”, allowing us to determine the right mix of instructors/classes in order to cover everyone’s needs.
We will have instructors, flaggers, emergency personnel, etc. Tech inspection will be Thursday.
The Cost: I have been told by both the track management and the driving school, that normally they would be charging $395-450 per person. What we are trying to do is to have 50 drivers @ $150.00 each, which would cover costs. The faster you sign up, the better we can plan the event. This is a great opportunity to get some instruction in, some track time, and some bragging rights, at a very reasonable price.

From what I've seen so far, he has not been too forthcoming with that information. According to post #11, he will provide something if you request via e-mail.

Extreme machine
so far we have 31 registrations. there are at least 50 people who have said they are coming, but haven't sent in their reg. we have been getting 3-4 per day in the mail lately. we also have sent out around 40 registration applications in the last week, since we announced the may 10 deadline.
i decided to put on this event as a "service" to you car owners. i have been getting comments that hint that i'm trying to pull a fast one. this is not the case, and anyone who knows me, can vouch for my integrity. in matter of fact, i have not spent anyones money yet, it's all been my own. i've stuck my neck out, putting up non-refundable deposits. not only that, i've put in around 500 hours on this event, and am spending about 6 hours per day on it now.
if we do not get enough registrations by the may 10 cutoff date, we will call off the event, and return everyones money.
IF you guys want this event to happen, then get your registrations in NOW. it's very hard to plan stuff when people "are going to send in their money".
registration form can be requested at dratpro@aol.com, or call 775-745-2292
