When the owner of the auction company owns the car, the description of it can (and likely will) take up as many pages of the catalog as he wants.

Otis Chandler was an interesting guy, a muscle builder/surfer dude who excelled in sports in college. His family owned the LA Times. He eventually was the Editor of the Times. His hobby was cars, at first old Rolls Royces , prewar Packards, and such but then he got on a musclecar binge and finally had one of everything including a black 427 Cobra. His biggest passion in postwar cars was Porsches, I remember seeing him at Riverside taking secretaries for rides in his 917-K roadster, nothing like getting your hair blown at 200 mph!
He had a nice museum in Oxnard, which following his death, went to a collector of French cars who has made it more of a tribute to pre-war French design.

As far as the authenticity of his cars, he could afford the best, but I don't know if he always wanted the most authentic in details. For instance, he liked certain colors and didn't care if the car was that color when it rolled out of the factory or not. The purists would insist on a car being painted only the color it was born with.
