Default Russo & Steele at Monterey, a small block

They take a lot of words on their website to say very few details:

EXACT QUOTE from http://bignews.biz/?id=880268&keys=C...Russo-Monterey

"Cobra CSX 2461. Every aspect of this outstanding piece of American automotive history was fastidiously restored with the ultimate in attention to detail, impeccable craftsmanship and a fanatical devotion to originality.

Accompanied by a well documented ownership history in the new Shelby American World Registry and in the prestigious collection of Mr. Otis Chandler (of the Los Angeles Times) featuring completely original sheet metal and original chassis, this is a genuine “no stores” Cobra. A comprehensive file of detailed restoration photos shows a 100% original “skin” aluminum bodywork and chassis in bare metal configuration. The over two year restoration attended to every conceivable detail, from an NOS clock and full gauge restoration of the original Stuart Warner gauges to the correct grain and contours of the original interior. From the highly detailed engine bay (featuring unique aluminum covered foot boxes) and the cosmetically dramatic election of the restorer to equip the “jewelry” of Weber carburetors to the highly detailed trunk or “boot” with the correct white gel coated fiberglass spare tire well, correct jack, and original top bows, top, side curtains and original cover.

The roll bar and color combination and side exit exhaust having been installed when this Cobra was almost brand new, the restorer elected to retain these accouterments during the fastidious refurbishment process. From the original (not reproduction) wheel knock off hubs to the NOS grease gun – the correct and original “grained” Cobra emblems to the original restored 16” steering wheel – from the “ultra-rare” accessory wood shift knob to the correct rivets in the owner’s manual in the glove box, minute details abound. In addition, the chassis main tubes have been reinforced to alleviate the “bending” or flex of any original Cobra. "

Let me add some description in the same vein: yadda-yadda-yadda

When the owner of the auction company owns the car, the description of it can (and likely will) take up as many pages of the catalog as he wants.

Default More about the former owner of the car up for sale

Otis Chandler was an interesting guy, a muscle builder/surfer dude who excelled in sports in college. His family owned the LA Times. He eventually was the Editor of the Times. His hobby was cars, at first old Rolls Royces , prewar Packards, and such but then he got on a musclecar binge and finally had one of everything including a black 427 Cobra. His biggest passion in postwar cars was Porsches, I remember seeing him at Riverside taking secretaries for rides in his 917-K roadster, nothing like getting your hair blown at 200 mph!
He had a nice museum in Oxnard, which following his death, went to a collector of French cars who has made it more of a tribute to pre-war French design.

As far as the authenticity of his cars, he could afford the best, but I don't know if he always wanted the most authentic in details. For instance, he liked certain colors and didn't care if the car was that color when it rolled out of the factory or not. The purists would insist on a car being painted only the color it was born with.
