A transfer case is for 4x4 vehicles, it is what shifts them in and out of 4 wheel drive.

 Jimi G,
I suspect CobraEd was makin' fun.

I don't think any of us use a transfer case in our cobras. Now lift kits,..thats an entirely different matter! Just cant get a cobra high enough off the ground. Nothing more frustratin' than not being able to see the traffic when a F250 with a camper shell is right in front of you. Yep, got mine lifted 10 inches.

Comes in handy when one of those pesky Ferraris is sittin' in your parking spot, too.

I actually talked to one guy that was in the process of building a cobra replica out of an all wheel drive audi donor car, don't know how it is going, but I am sure it will be fun to drive.

 Dave,
Thanks for your business Dave, I am sure will be very pleased with the way this transmission preforms. If you need anything else feel free to give me a call. Also thanks for your kind words above.

 Hey Jimi,
Heres a bump for ya, and a question as well. My Tremec 5 speed seems to be really finicky about finding reverse gear. Seems to have gotten worse lately, so I'm doubting the operator error arguement. It also is leaking at the front seal slightly. I've heard other Cobra owners talk about linkage adjustments, and if this is all that is needed to get her to backwards, is this something I can fix myself ?

Also, How do I identify which Tremec model I have without tearing it apart ?

 Thanks in advance!

 Remod,
First to identify your unit there is a tag on the pass. side where the two cases bolt together, it will tell you the model number and I can tell you from that your gear ratios and anything else you might want to know. As for the rev. problem, is it still hard to find rev. when the motor is turned off? If not then you probably have a clutch problem, if it still is then there will be something wrong inside, we can fix it here, you will be looking at $200 labor plus parts to repair it. If you have anymore questions let me know.

 Hi Jimi,
Thanks for your help. It would be great if you could decipher these numbers for me! Hope I got 'em right, as I was viewing them sideways...

 Line one of tag: TR3550 - 0 - AGADC17

 LIne two of tag: 2600 - 682 - 14 - 7

 Remod,
From what I can tell from your tag #s you have an original Tremec 3550, with gear ratios of 3.27-1, 1.98-2, 1.34-3, 1.00-4, .68-5, 3.00-R. It is rated to 350 ft. lbs, with a 10 spline input and a 28 spline output. If I can be of any further assistance, let me know.

 Hi Jimi,
Thanks for the info. I think the trans is ok for now, I just slid my seat a little further forward, and now I can push the clutch all the way to the floor (when my knee doesn't hit the dash) Its a delicate balance, but shifts every time now.

I am a little concerned with the fact that I have a 3550 model rated at 350 torque in a situation where my 418 engine makes 530 torque at the crank.

Mostly driven as a street cruiser, but I was entertaining making a few passes at the drag strip. Will I be ok with this tranny ?

 Remod,
I wouldn't be worried about using it on the street, as long as you don't get to carried away with it. As for the strip, I would be very careful, or you might be replacing that tranny before you planned to.

Jimi,Do you handle the GForce or other heavy duty T5 tranny's? My build has gone a little over my original goals for HP and torque and I may have to plan for upgrading my tranny before I even get it on the road.
Right now I've got a newly rebuilt WC T5 that I will be using to start off with, but a Gforce is looking better and better at this point.

 BTW, where are you located?

 Thanks,
 Bob
