clean both surfaces and use Permatex Ultra-Copper RTV, no gasket. Works great!

I've got one in my garage. It has the name and # of the company that makes them printed on it. I'll post the info tonight unless someone else posts it first.

Question

Wade always had problems with leaks there, Will this Permatex Ultra-Copper RTV not blow out?

I use it too, and clear silicone on the header/heads. Works alot better than the gaskets.

Spitz - I have some of the first 4-pipe headers that FFR made in-house and the flanges are nasty. A traditional gasket wouldn't hold at all. The ultra-copper has been leak free for 27,000 miles!

Spitz, I tooka more laborous approach (not uncommon for me) when I blew both header gaskets. I purchased a couple of copper gaskets and milled out the exhaust port openings. I installed them using the copper RTV and haven't had a problem since.

Thanks Tony, it looks like the copper RTV is the answer.

OK guys, I bought the copper RTV, it says it good up to 800 degrees, does this sound ok, I know sometimes headers get very hot. Do I have the correct stuff.

Scott, Thats funny, you gave me the number for the San Bernardino probation department, I asked about the honest brothers and was told they hope all of their "clients" are now honest but they could not help me.

Oh well thanks for the tip.

I asked about a work release program and if maybe they would like to make the gaskets for me, but she was unwilling.
