I’ve sent AMP right now an e-mail to see, what they can do.
The target of this project is to replace the complete rear (which has to be narrowed) for the new FIA Pin-drive wheels.
(Some information and picture are on my gallery)
To avoid any problems at the car inspection (every three years) I would prefer to NOT use adapters. At this way they’ll not come up with some stupid questions about certification of the adapters! (Here in Switzerland they are (some times) a little bit complicated)!
Many thanks for every input which help’s me to have, at the end, my car running on 289FIA wheels (aluminium or magnesium)!
Alf,
What kind of changes are you going to have to do to your suspension to fit the AMP unit? Seems like you will need all new A-arms, trailing arm, shock mounts, suspension pick up points, and rear differential supports, along with brake supports and new brake lines.
Just curious- Bob
My plan was at the beginning to replace my 5pin wheels with some Trigo 289FIA wheels. Now they’ve not enough backspaces.
At this point I need to narrow the rear to have the wheels fitting under the fenders. Therefore my idea was to organize a new 8.8 Ford rear and have it narrowed to use it with the new wheels.
After thinking about it, why no order the new rear with some pin-drive hubs. At this way I could avoid the adapters (and at this way some trouble with the car inspection department) and use some 5 or 6pin wheels Trigo or PSE or others. (Aluminium or magnesium)
As I’m living in Switzerland the story is not so easy.
1. English is not my mother tongue
2. There is no supplier, where I could go with the car and explain the problem
But I’m sure at the end I’ll have my car running on 289FIA Pin-drive wheels.
Please check the information I added to my gallery. It can help to understand my issue!
