About $10,000 too much.

Jeff??????
Sorry, but who the heck are you to say if a car is overpriced or not? Pretty ballsy if you ask me. Let's leave our own personal "feelings" aside and let these people try to sell their cars. If the vehicle is overpriced, it probably won't sell. Otherwise, shut the heck up.

Facts are facts whether you like them or not, there was nothing personal about my statement. I was being generous, the car is actually worth about $20,000. Have a nice day.

Geee......
Can you tell me what my 94 Ford Ranger is worth too????
Why are you so sure this vehicle is worth $20,000? Just think it is pretty RUDE to assert what a vehicle is worth on a public forum where people are trying to sell their cars!!!! Again, let's keep our comments to ourselves. If the car is overpriced, it won't sell.

I have read damn near every post on this forum for the past 2 years. This brand has been talked about many times on this forum. Do a search and you might understand. No disrespect to the owner, but kits don't get much worse than this one. Other people have said many times (not my words) "Run away from this car as fast as you can." This is no secret unless you were born yesterday. I see you don't have a car yet. Maybe you should buy this one.
Look at it the other way around. How would you like to by a car for $10,000 too much and then find out later you paid too much. This forum is a place to learn. I suggest you do some more research before you slam me, but what do I know?

I guess every other car that has come up for sale, has had the price right on the money, because this is the only one that I've seen you comment on the price. The worth of the car isn't the point in question, the fact that you would criticize someone's asking price is, but then again I guess that everything you sell is always priced under what it is really worth. If I put a dollar bill up for sale for 10.00 and someone offers me 5.00 for it, who's at fault...Me for asking too much, or the person that bought it with out doing his homework.....Fact is, it's not up to you to give an opinion on anyone's asking price, unless you're the one that's making the offer to buy this car.... just my 2 cents to the high and mighty

Yo Jeff.....
No disrespect intended! I too have read about this particular car, but..... would never disrespect someone else trying to sell. If you have not seen the actual vehicle, how can you make such a sweeping statement? Did you ever consider that perhaps this fellow has put more dollars and work into this car to make it worth what he is asking???
I agree that this forum is a place to learn and do research, and if a buyer comes into here not wanting to research his/her purchase, then "a fool and their money are soon parted".
I'm just saying that making a broad-based statement on a brand is not right, reputation be damned as individuals can correct what is wrong. In this case who knows? Do you?
As a matter of course, no I do not own a replica of a Ford variant
, but have done my homework enough to know more than you ever wanted about purchasing one.
No slam intended on you Jeff, sorry I came across that way. I rather enjoy some of your posts. Just irked me is all.

OK guys, after spending most of the night beating on this damned computer only to find out that my daughter had changed the password (mad because she can't reach the pedals to my car)I think I'd like to respond. First, Jeff, I respect your opinions about CMC, you said you've read this site for 2 years, I battled them 7. It's not the cars it's the people that were involved. I have visited several manufacturers at different shows and at their facilities and I'm confident that mine is as good as most. I have had this car appraised, I didn't just pick a number, as a matter of fact one car company (not from Florida) put a value of 38,000 on it. I can't ask that for it, I don't think it's worth it.
David and Jack thank you, a car like anything else is worth only what someone will pay. is my car worth it we'll see, hell it's not like I won't listen to offers (some anyway). Would I pay 40k for a 32 Ford no, 45k for a 40 Ford no, 135k for a 33 or 1.3mil for 27 no but people do. Only the pipes, body and frame are CMC,a lot came from Finishline, Factory 5, Shell Valley, Cobra Restorers the list goes on. The car was built with ALL new parts and it's to much to put here. I would like to include pictures but it tells me it's to big, help please? Thanks to all. Maybe I'll ask 50k and really stir the troops.

I do not post that often, but your reply did tic me some.As you can see I have a CMC and like Jeff Harvey the body and frame is all I'm using. If you have read **** near all the post here you missed more than a few on the CMC kits.try doing a search one more time.
I do envy you the ERA is one of the best, just out of price range.
The problems with the CMC was more the people selling the cobra kits not the kits themself.
It will take more time and skill than most kit out there but done right will make a very nice car.
No mater which kit,if not built right can be a death trap.
Just the opinion of a CMC owner.

Specialty cars and their value are in the opinions of the principles involved. If this car sells, the value of this car is established by the trade; not by what someone else thinks the value should be. I do not own a CMC, nor have I ever owned one. However, I would not suppose to be placing value on a car that I had no interest in and feel other than the people actually involved should not express their value opinions on the car. I own an original CSX and a B&B kit and it is no other person's place to knock my cars or place a value on them.

Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has got one, doesn't mean mine is right. Bought my ERA 2 years ago for slightly more than the asking price of the CMC advertized in this post. Good luck.

Jeff;
I have to agree with the others. Your first post came across to me as being very arrogant. You surely do not have any right or any way otherwise of knowing what a vehicle is worth without seeing and inspecting it. This car may or may not be worth the asking price,I do not know, and surely would not make an assumtion of value without looking at it first.....I have seen FFRs advertised at 40k or more, are they worth that?????I do not know....I personally would not pay that for one,but that does not mean that car is not worth that.....I have seen some that the owners had that in parts and materials, not to mention labor...
Depending on how this car is equipped, the owner could very well have invested the asking price....I deal with cars everyday all day and have people ask me "what can I get for my car or what is my car worth ???", I tell them it is worth exactly what you can get for it today......regardless of "book" value or what you have invested in it....
Jeff, you may have meant no harm or disrespect, but it did not come across that way to me and obviously to a lot of others......
Just my .02 cents on the matter.....
David

David:
The amount invested in a car has little to do with what it is worth. I have seen cars (not Cobras) with well over $200K sunk into them and lucky to sell for 1/3 of that.
I don't understand why so many people are bent out of shape. Why should anybody listen to or believe me? Maybe some people think I'm an expert. If I am, then my statement is right, if not, then why listen to what I have to say.
I made the same statement about an original 289 car that was about $50K too much and didn't hear boo from anybody. If Jeff can get $35K for the car, take it and run to the bank.
kidkobra
My car is a piece of $hit, that's why you don't see any pictures. BTW, did I tell anybody not to buy it? I didn't hear any of you *****ing when other members told perspective buyers of other CMC's to run away as fast as you can. You guy's make it seem like I commited murder. Give me a break, the world is not always fun and games.

Fellas...
This poor thread has taken a bad turn.
(Thread has been split, leaving the original For Sale post in the right place)
Talk about the car, talk about the price...
...but please cease the personal attacks, OK?
(no responses to this are necessary, just let the thread stay about a car for sale.)
