About $250 to $275, as I recall... Registration fee is based upon a percentage of the value of the vehicle as stated when the vehicle was initially titled. This is separate from the initial titling fee, which is around 8->9%, depending upon the Sales Tax rate in your area.
My CA DMV registration was $505. Since everything was purchased in CA, I had already shelled out almost $6k in sales tax so that was not an issue. There is a fee calculator on the DMV site that is spot-on to what they actually charged me. I think for a lot of people it really isn't the registration fee so much as the sales tax that they charge on everything -- even labor since it is considered "value-added."
The initial registration is the most as it includes the sales/use tax on the value of the car you built along with plate fee etc. I just paid my renewal for January and it was @ $260

Florida around $30 a year total and no state income tax. Florida is probably one of the cheapest places to register a car as they charge by weight here instead of value. My dually is $105 a year

I paid $75 last year when it was registered on the Big Island Hawaii, but
"moved" the registration to Oahu and it went to $125. The Honolulu
county tax takes it's bite of $50 here. The cost of paradise!
