Sharing Some Tips

This is how the tips from the forum helped me easily get through the registration process...I'll try to make this succinct...Unfortunately, it takes me an hour just to say hello...Anyway;

I was told that registration here in Oregon should be s snap...Therefore I went down to my local DMV and tried to preliminarily smooth the way to en easy registration when the time came to do so...I messed up!

I did not present my information well and somehow it all got turned around to a point that I would need the car to adhere with federal standards in order to register...

I returned home and researched all through the CC forums. I ended up doing several things that worked very well. These tips were gleaned from reading all the pertinent posts about registration:


ONE...Even though I live a short distance from our small-town DMV, I purchased a Temporary Operating Permit prior to taking the car there...That set the stage for me being a guy who follows the rules

SECOND...I separated all the expenses of each vendor into separate envelopes (This shows that several groups were involved in the building process)

THREE...I downloaded all the necessary forms and had them filled out prior to going to DMV.

FOUR...I made a summary sheet of the major parts vendors and attached it to the necessary forms along with a copy of the insurance verification sheet.

With my luck, I ended up seeing the same person who listened to my earlier messed-up presentation. However, this time she was terrific and friendly! She appreciated the way the information was presented and did everything she could to help expedite the process.

She had to work a little harder because she was not familiar with the codes necessary to register a replica, however, she got it done in a reasonably short time.

Furthermore, even after the first 7 names of my personal plate choice were taken, she helped me come up with a name that was pretty good. (R Kruzer)

Sorry for the long post, however, I hope this saves someone from having to spend too much time looking for ways to get through a small DMV unfamiliar with registering a replica.

Thanks to those on this forum who came up with the suggestions I listed above.

Good job.......

When I went in to register mine in VT, I brought the lady there a new flannel shirt, presented the bill of sale for $363.00 and walked her through the correct spelling of R E P L I CA. Voila - outa there plates in hand!
