Default Buying car with SB-100

Seem to have located what I was looking for (gently used SPF, SB-100), BUT...

Does anyone have experience with buying a used Cobra with SB-100?
Does the car need to be seen by the DMV, CHP, etc (for verification)?
If there's nothing to it, can I assume I can register at the AAA?
Does AAA collect the taxes?

Thanks

If the title reads SPCNS and it has the SP 100 sticker under the hood then I think no inspection of any kind is necessary, AAA should be able to take care of it. Just make sure the title says SPCNS.

White Rose is correct. When I bought mine all I had to do was have the man I bought it from go to the DMV with me and sign it over, but they would have taken a simple bill of sale if he had not been available. I showed them my insurance that it was going to go on and was out of there in about 10 minutes. Just for my peace of mind I did call in to the DMV and have them run the plate number and they told me the car was permanently exempt from emissions testing.

As Ron said, you should be able to register the car with a simple bill of sale and the signed pink slip (no inspections).

It probably would be better to meet the seller at a DMV office, verify that the registration is fine, and pay your fees directly to the DMV (vs. handling it through AAA). Get ready to write a big check for the sales tax and registration.
