Default Kit Car Magazine on Run'nGun 2007

I received mine today. Great photo spread on the event along with editorial and other articles about member's cars. Hurry and get your copy...they are flying off the news stands.

If anyone wants me to autograph the picture of my car on page 23, the FFR 65 Type Coupe #15, I'll be happy to, however, I'll have to use my alias "Bob"

Seriously, RnG is a great event, and once again, THANKS to all who organize it! See you all at the 2008 event.

There must be two different Kit Car Magazines. I have subscribed to it for many years, and the issue I just received shows your car on Page 28. Also has a good picture of Jay, Dean, and Clois on page 35. Great coverage and some really great cars.

I was at Run and Gun as well, with my T-bucket in 2007. I will be there with my new Cobra in 2008. It is a great event, run by great people. It is a blast and I encourage every one to attend! John

It truly was a GREAT TIME. Clois and I Have been working on 2008 for 3 months now. We have met many times with Gateway management, re-worked the website and rules and have set in motion a series of events that will make next year the best year ever by far!

We have been in contact with manufactures to create a "manufacturers row". We have commitments from many but we will probably limit it to 20. All the racing is great and there are some new classes and rule changes for next year. If you are not a track guy, Run and Gun is still a great event tot attend. We have decided to offer a full day of workshops on Friday For non drivers. Everything from how to paint fiberglass to high end chassis setup. Friday night will have a cruise, maybe to some of the local car museums followed by an all out car show on Saturday sponsored by a local car club and speed shop. Our hope is to create an event not only for track junkies but also for potential buyers, enthusiast, and manufacturers. Registration will open in May or June so watch for the announcement!

Hey Ronnie:
I stand corrected...it is page 28. You are right...and all signature proceeds will be donated to Automotivation, via Operation Comfort...the noble program for the injured veterans.

Dave,

It is in the March issue. You should be getting it soon as we normally get ours last out here on the West Coast. Depends on how fast they processed your subscription.

Just picked one up yesterday at the coffee house/magazine store. Read the whole thing before I left. The magazine was less $ than all the latte's I drank.

Great feature on the Run 'n Gun. Finally got to see the cars and some of the mugs of the guys that post here all the time.

Duane,

I will answer that question for John, they are phenominal cars that are well designed and and easy on the eyes. John brought several bodies that he could literally switchout in a matter of minutes. I like the T-Bucket but my favorite is his newly designed Dragon.

The Dragons did extremely well at last years Run and Gun and if John is building a Cobra I am sure he will be more than a force to compete against. Glad to hear that most everyone had a good time. Keep in mind guys those Stalkers and Lotus 7's are faster than most of us and if they are piloted by a competent driver like Dennis Brunton, Chuck Spera, and possibly Jerry Fink then next year we have a lot of work ahead of us to hold our own. Keep checking in on our website from time to time to see whats plans for 2008 are coming together. Run 'N Gun

Clois

Default A great job for 07, 08 sounds even better

dlampe Dean you Clois, Jay and the 3 Bosses (wifes) did a great job again. The weather was beautiful. autocross track was fast. The 1/4 mile track had so much VHT on it you pulled off your shoes trying to walk across it. Everyone got quicker on the roadcourse. I heard a couple of guys drove over 250 miles on the road course. That's alot of driving. 08 sounds better than 07. I hope to return again for the people and fun. I hope that you can get the suspension guy again, (MORRIS) but not empty my pocket this time for new shocks and spring son the car. The car did handle alot better after his suggestions. This was the best thing to change on the car except for the stroker kit. Driver still needs work. I am hoping to return in 08. Side note, will you talk to Clois and Jay about adding weight to the dragon guys. 1,900 lbs cars are fast. I think about 500 lbs should slow them down a little. Are you out there MR CHESTNUT?. The dragons are getting faster every year. One drove from N.H to Gateway, raced 3 days hard and drove home in the rain. Paul you win the Ironbutt award. That is a well built car. Nice write up in Kit Car mag, I am waiting for my postman to bring my copy. Hope I didn't get to the back page with James Yale. Dan and Tim run a great racetrack. Will start working on car for Oct. Again GREAT JOB GUYS. Rick L.

Default CooX Lister #001

Clois

Sounds good Clois. I am familiar with the Dragons or what started as a Dragon; a.k.a CooX Lister #001

Wait 'til John/Paul see the newly revised Dragon (a.k.a CooX Lister) me and another guy are building together for a good friend of mine. The only thing that is original Dragon on this car is the chassis itself. It's a nice chassis I might add. It was all together last month for the maiden voyage in rough body form and we put about 200 miles on it for the shakedown run. It then came all back apart for refab'd body, paint, detail, and many more hand made parts. The entire front end nose and shape is something completely different now. What a job. We split the front end completely apart and cut out the back part of the bump, removed the raised/flare hood sections, and extended and raised the front of the bump forward outward to make it look more similar to an original '58 Lister; and moved the wheel arches a bit to fit our wheel/tire combo. Imagine a low and wide Lister race car on the street, if you can picture that. The dash and windshield is all hand formed/made too...with several other mods. Has a brand new pro-comp 383 stroker in old school theme, TKO 600 Road Race 5-speed, custom exhaust, 3.42 axle ratio, aluminum suspension and differential, QA1 coilovers, and more. Just how it needs to be. Most of it will be going back together by March for final assembly and trinket detail. We are going to put it in a body/paint vendor booth at WSCB this year if the black paint comes out as nice as we hope. It's been fun to do because the car is 100% hand made, including the custom wheels, and bits all over the car.

I've driven it more than a few times already, and it's very fun to drive. It's definitely lighter and quicker than my big block Cobra. Pulls like a freight train in the midrange sector; almost sport bike feel when it starts pulling. Can't wait to finish it and hand it over to my friend. He is jumping out of his skin right about now with anticipation. I gotta say though, we would probably not build another one like this; way too much time into it as a "let's see if we can do it type project"

Thanks for the kind words about the Dragons. As I said the event is great and Paul and I had a blast. Paul and I, if possible like to drive our cars. I put 32,000 miles on my last
Dragon in 18 months!
Rick I have been on an eating binge since last year. At this rate I will be around 750lbs by the next Run n Gun! That ought to equalize everything. Good thing my cockpit is BIG!
Duane, I can't wait to see your highly modified Dragon, your new Lister recreation! I'm glad that you like the way the car drives and wish you the best of times in your new car. Thank you for buying our kit, for having faith in a couple of car freaks working out of our home based shop. John

Default Kicking my A$$

John Chesnut John with a 383 stroker motor, Aluminium frame, vette suspension your new car is going to be fast, handle great, and duriable for the street and race track. I have added 20 lbs since R&G last Oct. Thank god for adjustable shocks. Looking forward with my crying towel at the new car. I don't think ERA will make an aluminium frame cobra for there cobras. It would be cool. I will ask the engineer at ERA about this. If you get TOO much faster than me at R&G, I am going to the SHOW and SHINE classes. Welcome to the CC forumn, John. Looking forward to Carlisle and R&G. Rick L. Ps I am going on a diet soon. yea right.

Default Iron Butt award to Paul?

Clois Harlan Is there going to be an IRON BUTT award? Paul won it last year. 1,400 miles one way and drove home in the rain. He wins my vote and best competitor award for 07. Rick L.

You are welcome John. Both you and Paul created a platform that I could really see us doing something with for my friend; and it's neat to see you continue to do the same with you own versions of the original. Great to see you guys doing well at R&G. It's easy to see how that is after driving one.

..probably a longer story for another thread, but I had been bugging my friend Kevin for years (who owns a Viper) to get a Cobra replica. He saw us all playing around right here on CC, but I just couldn't get him to do it. Then I came up with this idea of the Lister/Dragon project and customizing it to make it different / unique / maybe even a bit odd in ways. Also, having some extra room inside the cockpit and legroom was very helpful. We then took him out on a few runs one day, and surrounded him with several loud Cobras and one other Dragon, and that was it. Duane
